Does anyone know of a good lawyer in the area, at a reasonable price. Yeah I know that's asking alot. My wife was involved in a car accident about 3 weeks ago and the guys insurance company is denying liability. State Farm, my insurance carrier, is going to go aftrer his insurance for what they can but it will only be related to the car and stuff like that. She ended up having to go to the hospital cause she hit her head on the steering wheel and I want to go after the guy for the medical bills and other things related to the accident. This will mostly end up being a civil suit. We did find out that he plead guilty to the ticket, failure to yield right of way, and now feel that since he admits fault for the ticket, we want to push forward on the civil suit. Basically the guy the stop sign at Hay and Belmont Ridge and stopped in the middle of the intersection, not giving my wife any chance to slow down and she slammed him pretty hard. He was coming down Hay and my wife was travelling towards Rt. 7 on Belmont Ridge.

I don't know an attorney for you, but two things:
    (1) I hope your wife is recovering really well and has no head injuries or pain that will last a lifetime. No amount of money can fix that.

    (2) I'm not sure if you have to worry about a "reasonable price" in this case because I assume the attorney who takes this on will work for a percentage of the damages. Plus you want a REALLY GOOD attorney with a great track record on these matters.

Good luck with the lawsuit, but mostly we all wish your wife a good recovery and peace going forward. Sometimes these things have a way of sapping all your emotions as well, and it's not always worth it.

    Gun Ohna and others--

First of all, we are sorry to hear about your wife's accident. Secondly, we would like to suggest one of the law firms that we have dealt with in the past for business and personal legal matters. After reading your post to my husband while we are traveling by air with our kids to Sarasota, Florida (my grandmother fell off her stepladder recently while washing her house windows and broke her arm. We are traveling to help out on my grandparents' farm for two or three weeks--what a way for a family reunion!:( She is okay.), I digress.

Anyway, my husband suggested Plofchan & Associates in Cascades Marketplace in Potomac Falls/Sterling, VA area. We used Plofchan's law firm in the past for personal and business matters. Great and reasonable prices for a law firm.

This law practice is just ONE that we use for ourselves. We use a different law practice for our farming legal matters. Anyway their web site and info is below. Give them a call--they handle alot of various legal matters. They handle family law, estates and wills, accident/personal injury, and other legal matters.

    www.plofchanlaw.com (Plofchan & Associates' site/info.)

Good luck to you and your family. Blessings--

i don't have any current referrals but i will put this out to a few friends i know who are lawyers (but none of them are accident lawyers) and see if they have any recommendations.

i hope your wife is recovering well and all of you are doing well. accidents take a toll on everyone in the household, especially as serious as this sounds, so we'll keep you in our thoughts.

    All.

Thanks for the well wishes. She only had a bad bump on her head. The CT scan showed nothing abnormal. Luckily my 1 and a half year old son wasn't with her otherwise I would have been seriously upset. I will forward this on to my wife as I am out of town right now on travel.

Yeesh. Sorry about the accident. If you're not looking for some sort of compensation beyond your medical bills, I'm not sure you actually need an attorney. The hospitals and doctors will file with your health insurance company and one of the diagnosis codes they include should be the code for "Motor Vehicle Accident". This will then trigger your health insurance company to investigate and you'll have to fill out paperwork regarding what happened, your car insurer, etc. Then, your health insurer will go to your auto insurer for reimbursement. Same with any deductibles or co-pays---you should be able to file for repayment from your auto insurer with paid receipts.

Now, if you just want to make the guy pay.....you'll need that lawyer. I'm a little clueless about why your auto insurer isn't walking you through this more carefully. I'd push them a bit if I were you.

Gun - give me a call or PM - I used Nick Balland (out of Arlington) 8+ years ago - when I was hit head on and in the ICU for several months. His firm is aggressive and great to work with, in most cases you do not have to "pay out of pocket" - just a portion of the settlement range of 20-40% -based on the settlement amount.
