I love living here in Broadlands and I love the network of walking/jogging trails we have all over Ashburn.

I am concerned that it seems like every time I go for a run outside, I find more and more litter along the trails.

I have also noticed there is a fitness group that likes to use the hill going up Broadlands Blvd to Belmont Ridge. There's a black pickup truck that parks on the grass on the north side of the road and they have weights and other stuff they do. I think that's great, keep it up. Coincidentally, I saw them out there this morning, and this afternoon when I ran the Broadlands Blvd hill, I noted empty gatorade bottles, empty water bottles, empty ziplock bags and other trash around where they were doing their workout. I don't know for sure it was them, but the coincidence in time makes me wonder.

    So I have a request...

If you're one of the knuckleheads who keeps leaving your trash around the neighborhood for others to pick it up, KNOCK IT OFF! Take your trash home with you!

If you're NOT one of the knuckleheads, then please let's do something about this while it's still manageable. I see MANY people out and about using our trails. If each of us were to pick up ONE piece of litter during our walk or run, we would very quickly find our paths were clear again. Also, if you see someone drop their trash, call them out on it and tell them to PICK IT UP!

I plan to start taking a small trash bag with me on my runs to pick up at least one piece of litter. Please join me in helping to clean up our walking and jogging paths.

Great request. I have been doing this for years and would love to see others join me. I only cover a small area in the community.

I think one of the issues with the Broadlands Blvd. area is the lack of trashcans. Particularly on the Clydes side of the road. Can the HOA look into additional receptacles here?
