A friend of mine in South Riding just got soaked by his Mortgage Company in the tune of $1.6k b/c they anticipate LoCo's take rate to go up to $1.26 per 1000. That's loco! If this is true we need to start hitting the BoS with some resistance.

Well my company just lowered my monthly tax taken and sent me a rebate check for $780.00 saying that the rates went down and I overpaid. Guess I should save that money to send it back to them when I'm underpaid!

I got a check from our mortgage company, too, saying that they anticipate an overage in our account. That doesn't mean that it won't go up at another time...

I got a check from my mortgage company too..but I suspect I will have to pay that money again once the new (higher) rate is fixed by the BoS.

Does anyone know by what date the BoS will make a decision on the new tax-rate (I'm too lazy to google it and am hoping some already has the info readily available ;-))?

It is not too late to e-mail the BOS your budget and tax rate concerns. Their e-mail is bos@loudoun.gov

I suspect I pay more in property tax here in the Pittsburgh suburbs, than you're paying in Loudoun county with better schools.

    Last year I paid over $3000, on a $150K house ... I paid less on a $350K house in Broadlands in 2005 !!

P.S. I wanted to edit my original post and add this infor there but I did not find any option to be able to edit a post. Is that not available or am I just not smart enought to find the "edit" option ;-)

But do you pay income and/or sales tax neilz? At a minimum I suspect that if you do pay these taxes your rates are lower.

It all works out in the end. If you're paying higher property taxes you probably pay less in other state/local taxes.

I believe that Pa. has no sales tax on clothes and food.

We allow users to edit their posts within 10 minutes of posting it. After that, it cannot be edited. This was put into place to prevent abuse by some users.

Best thing I can say is use the Preview Post function diligently prior to pressing the Submit button :p

Escrow your own taxes in an ING account.
You'll get interest on it, then pay what you actually need to.

...assuming your mortgage allows you to close your escrow. We are in some BS argument with the lender on this in our case.
