We are considering splitting our two-story living room to add a room upstairs. We know that the model house we are in had this as an option when it was purchased, but not sure if it was built the same way to handle the ceiling/floor there. Has anyone done this or looked into this? Anyone know a good structural engineer?

Our house is Washington Homes/K. Hovnanian - Delaware model

You might want to check with the builder. If they offered that plan as an option, you may be able to get the plans from them.
