Loudoun Chorale Presents: John Rutter's "Gloria" and Holiday Carols

    Here's another nice community event and it's Dec. 6 and 7, so you can get a jump-start on that warm and fuzzy holiday feeling. I know that some of you here are singers yourselves and I think this concert is going to be pretty exciting.

    The Loudoun Chorale Presents John Rutter's Gloria and Holiday Carols

    Dec. 6 and 7, 2008

    The Loudoun Chorale presents its annual winter concert under the direction of William Propst. The centerpiece of the program is John Rutter’s Gloria, accompanied as originally scored by brass, organ and percussion.

    The program also includes Hymn to the Virgin by Benjamin Britten, Still, Still, Still by Mack Wilberg and other seasonal spirituals, folk songs and carols. Accompanying the Chorale will be organist Beverly Clark, as well as the Andrew McGinley Ensemble, with Carlos Figueiras, timpani, and Rich Gillam, percussion. The Dec. 7 performance will the Chorale’s first performance accompanied by Holy Trinity’s new pipe organ.




    Concert dates, times and locations are:
    • Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m., St. David’s Episcopal Church, 43600 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn, 20147
    • Dec. 7, 4 p.m., Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 West Market Street, Leesburg, 20176
    Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 general admission. Senior tickets are $8 and youth tickets are $5. Children 12 and under are free. Concert-goers will have a chance to meet and talk with Chorale members at an hors d'oeuvres and dessert reception following both concerts.

    The Loudoun Chorale, a community-based organization founded in 1991, is the largest vocal ensemble in Loudoun County with more than 60 mixed-voice singers. The group sings both traditional and contemporary works and has performed at the Washington National Cathedral, at community events and at the Waterford Fair.
