The Loudoun Chorale presents its annual spring concert, Johannes Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem,” on April 25 and 26.

Under the direction of William Propst, the Chorale will be joined by accompanist Beverly Clark and a 15-piece chamber orchestra. A selection of Passion chorales by J.S. Bach is also on the program.

The April 25 concert will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 43600 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn at 7:30 p.m. The April 26 concert will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 W. Market St. in Leesburg at 4 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 general admission, $8 seniors, $5 youth and children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Both concerts will be followed a dessert and hors d’ouevres reception.

The Chorale had a successfull dress rehearsal tonight at St. David's. If you have a love of choral music - and I know there are some on this forum who are singers themselves - I think you will really enjoy this concert.

We'll be performing Brahms' "A German Requiem" in its entirety, in German, with a chamber orchestra. It's 7 movements; about 80 minutes. Also, as Leesburg Today said, the concert will be "peppered with Bach Chorales." Afterwards, there will be a reception. Each vocal part takes turns bringing food, so no worries about the good music being following by good eats and good conversation.

If you read the Loudoun Times-Mirror, they mixed up the churches on the front page of the Entertainment section. This was especially unfortunate, because we always have trouble getting a good turnout for St. David's. Maybe that's because you can't see the church very well from Rt. 7, or maybe it's because the directions on Mapquest and Expedia are wrong? It does have wonderful acoustics.

But I digress. I really just wanted to bump this up and hopefully, some of you will be in the audience at St. David's tomorrow night, or at Holy Trinity Sunday afternoon. Just say you read about it here!
