That has nothing to do with it. If I asked you to help fund a modification for my mortgage then, you might have a point. A mortgage and car loans are mutually beneficial financial relationships agreed to without force.

So what do you call it when the only efficient way for you to get to work is via road - and the only roads you can take are owned by a private company that sets tolls you have no control over?

Who owns it, private or government, doesn't change 'without force' or not. You do not have complete freedom of choice, and you never ever will when it comes to infrastructure because it is impractical to run duplicate infrastructure everywhere.

No one is going to build three roads owned by three companies all going the exact same place... just so softballchick can chose which company she thinks deserves her money this week.

Unfortunately the terms of the contract between the Commonwealth and the private investors is known to have serious flaws -- that essentially guarantees the investors to make an annual profit. As structured, this provides no incentive for the investors to adopt graduated tolls or to help keep toll cost down (which would increase usage and perhaps reduce some of the gridlock on waxpool road). In fact, one of the investors stated that he'd rather see less usage of the Greenway to avoid higher wear-and-tear and less maintenance cost!
