This is something that my daughters and I have done just in our own little area here for a few years... and we would like to know if anyone else is interested in regularly (monthly) making a collection of items
(food and personal items) to bring to Leesburg.
We have been just collecting stuff from the neighbors, but it would be nice to represent Broadlands and do it on a regular basis.
Let me know if you are interested in helping. I have a van but I do not want to turn this into a huge all day 7 van loads a month thing, but perhaps a nice collection every month.
How do I go about this? Can I put a box somewhere and suggest a particular week end that we will collect and deliver?
    :)

Sk8r, that sounds cool! Why don't you check with the Nature Center and see if Wes or another member of the Association would mind if you put a box there?

If you get one out there, let us know so we can chip in!

Perhaps we will just post signs in a few places in Broadlands
on a Thursday or Friday, collect on Saturday and deliver on that afternoon. My daughters and I could put a box at the nature center and at the pool on Waxpool. Is there any rule about putting a few signs up
if we take them down in two days?
We'll figure out what Saturday is best and make it a "regular thing."

Just a thought, but doing a 'Thanksgiving'-type of collection may get excellent results.

Yes, I agree. I would like to start some sort of collection right after Halloween. Perhaps that first weekend in November make some sort of announcement, like hang a couple of signs in the neighborhood, then the next weekend take the boxes up to Loudoun Interfaith Relief.
If you have never been there, you would be shocked at how may people need food and stuff like that. This is for all of Loudoun County.
They have a good set up there but they need donations like crazy.
