Has anyone else had this problem? Sometimes when the master bath shower is used, water leaks through one of the light fixtures underneath. We've had the shower regrouted and recaulked, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and there is some oddball issue before I start tearing down my kitchen ceiling. It doesn't leak all of the time either - so the plumber doesn't think it's a plumbing issue.

Recaulking fixed mine a few years ago - wonder if there is a crack or something in your shower pan that needs just the right pressure on it.

Is the floor of your shower tiled or a fiberglass pan like beahmer says? I've seen small holes develop in fiberglass pans, or rubber gaskets that attach the drain to the plumbing can go bad.

It's tiled. We've had it regrouted and resealed and that seemed to work for a while.

Try pouring water directly down the shower drain. Don't use the shower faucet use a big bucket. See if it leaks then. If it does it would be the trap or a seal in the waste water piping.

Then try turning the shower on and collect the water in a bucket and keep water from going down the drain. If it leaks then it would be a bad fitting somewhere within the wall between the faucet and the shower head.

If not that then sounds like a grout chalk issue.

Take your faucet off. There's a little black rubber gasket around the pipe that comes out of the wall. Make sure it's in tact. Actually, even if it is, replace it anyhow. Good luck.
