I’ve recommended Mezza Grill many times to friends (love their chicken shawarma salad and lentil soup!) but we had such a disappointing experience there tonight. First, the A/C was out – not a big deal at first but by the end of the meal we were sweating. (I kind of thought he’d knock a couple bucks off the final tab for the discomfort, but that didn’t happen - then again it was our choice to stay) My husband received a wine glass with lipstick on it. Then there were changes to the menu, both in ingredients and price, that we were not made aware of when we ordered the items but after we received the food and the bill. When we questioned the differences we were told, “the menu is old”. One last thing: there were mouse/insect glue traps right in front of the bathroom doors. Kind of gross. When my husband commented to the owner that they were a bit of a turn off, he was told, “don’t worry, they’re not for mice they’re for roaches.” :eww:

One nice thing: we were there for my husband’s birthday dinner and the owner did bring him a slice of cheesecake on the house.

We have eaten there a few times and really enjoyed our dinning expierence each time. Hope to get back there soon. My 2.5 year olds love the flavors as do we. Desserts are a bit lacking though. Luckily Maggie Moo's is just a walk away.

Sorry to hear the expierence was less then amazing.

I have never eaten there because a few years ago they were seen by a few of my friends taking down broadlands live signs at the broadlands blvd/claiborne pkwy intersection. i guess they thought it would deter business? not sure. but i have never gone there because of that. and i don't mind telling you all about it because it was absolutely true and absolutely ridiculous.

That's sad....I wouldn't want to patronize any business that "cheats" to gain an edge for their business. Thanks for sharing.

They were taking down the signs because County zoning was on them for plastering there advertising signs all over the place.

FYI - technically the Boradlands Live signs are against the law too !!!

Last time I went to Mezza Grill (for lunch with a friend), we had to get up to find the waiter to get drink refills, then, when it was time to leave, we had to get up and track him down for the check. Food was great, service was awful. Haven't been back since.

We usually just order in, but they have changed up ingredients and have not changed them on the new menu. One dish where a main ingredient in the dish is pine nuts, they changed it out to almonds... which I'm allergic to, not to mention it changes the whole dish. They also have left things out of a couple of take out orders recently, which is also unlike them in the past.

We used to go all the time. I got some people at work so hooked they went once a week. About a year ago service went way downhill and after several bad experiences my co-workers refused to go back. My wife and I tried it again a few months later and service was still bad and my wife got sick after the meal. Sorry to say we won't go back there. I loved the food too.

Went to Mezza Grill for the first time tonight. The food and service were great. There was only one other group of people in there. So we probably got more attention. It was so good though. Great flavorful food.

We went to that shopping center to go to Los Toltecos but made a game change at the last second. I'm glad we did. :)

(although i have had 2 good experiences at Los Toltecos too)

Have eaten at Mezza Grill many times and my wife and I have always enjoyed our meals. While occasionally we have had to get a waiter's attention, personally I prefer that over restaurants where the server is popping by every five minutes to interrupt your conversation. For my money, Mezza Grill has the best combination of food and value in Ashburn. Not saying much I realize...
