You can use any PS2 keyboard (HP or IBM) with the newer USB Macs. You just need a $15 adapter (often used for laptops to use a full size keyboad). Same goes for VGA monitors with DVI Macs. If you're talking about an older Mac it might be possible but it depends.

FWIW, I'm also very fond of the old IBM keyboards and still have two that I use. But I also really like the newer Apple keyboards that take up minimal space on the desktop.

If you already have a monitor and all the PC software (and operating system) that you need, just buy a Dell PowerEdge server. A few weeks ago they were selling them for $209 plus tax but with free shipping. It will easily run office applications and handle Web browsing but you'll want to upgrade or look elsewhere if you're doing intensive stuff or playing video games. These computers are considered servers because they don't come with any software (not even an operating system) but otherwise they can be used just like any PC. They throw in a basic keyboard and mouse for free but you have to check the boxes to get them. Not bad for just over $200--compare that to a Mac.
