Okay... so they put the letters on the sign today. What does everyone think? I am sure that all of us here have some awesome opinions... I haven't seen it yet but my wife says it is enormous.

"Big" is a word... "easily seen by passing planes" is a phrase...

We drove by it earlier today:

Hubby (sarcastically): "Hey, I wonder where we are?"
Me: "I wonder how soon THAT will get vandalized?"
Hubby: "I hope our HOA fee isn't paying for that!!"

    (I assured him it wasn't.)

It is gigantic; however, I almost missed it. The letters are brown and totally blend in with trees in the background. Not sure if there is going to be a backdrop behind it or not, but it seems kind of crazy to have these giant letters which are almost lost in the background. Of course I saw it at dusk, so maybe the effect has to do with the lighting.

    Not a fan.

Actually, I think it pretty horrible. I was hoping it was a joke...

What I want to know is what's up with the "no hitchhiking" sign at the offramp from the Greenway on that side? I know the tolls keep going up, but are you all really hitching from that location? :screwy:

I assume it is a fountain, given all of the plumbing that they did. Does anyone know for sure?

I wonder if they made it so big so you can see it eastbound on the Greenway??? I haven't passed that exit yet on the Greenway but will be sure to look next time.

Man, I thought you guys were just blowing hot air, but that thing is freaking huge! Maybe they got the measurements wrong like in Spinal tap, except reversed.....

That nest is impressive.... but that sign is huge. I got home yesterday and it's almost made me drive off the road AND I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE THERE! I guess it will make a great directional landmark. i.e. "Turn right at the gigantic Broadlands sign"
As for the person who pointed out that it blended into the trees a bit I have to say thank heavens... if it were a color that stood out it would be awful... as it is I almost find it amusing.

Oh... someone should get a picture and post it here for the people who don't drive in that way!

I just find the location of the sign odd, since the houses behind it are not in Broadlands. In the future when Mooreview Parkway connects to LCP, people will drive past the sign, between Quail Pond and Vantage Point and through Amberleigh/Moorefield Station in addition to the small bit of Broadlands on the right hand side. Perhaps the sign should be modified to include an arrow pointing towards the right ;-) Claiborne would have probably been a better location IMHO.

TACKY and UGLY. Also agree that the placement is odd. One's first impression of BROADLANDS will be home of the strip mall, fast food chains and Apartment complexes. :eww:

Too big, cartoonish almost, bad location. It should have been place nearer to the Safeway shopping center because that's what I think more people consider the 'entrance' to Broadlands.

It is indeed wicked huge, but I'm reserving final judgment until they're done. If there is a nice fountain and a zillion bushes and trees sort of "hiding" it, it could look nice. At least it isn't GREEN. That would be brutal.

I am really hoping that there is much more to it, but I'm skeptical that they can pull it off with what's there so far.
