New Broadlands Sign at Ryan and Mooreview/Ashburn Village

OK - I take the greenway home from work every day. So, when my husband told me about the posts I thought, "They must be exaggerating. Surely, I would have noticed a sign so large." Well, that night when I drove home - HOLY GINORMOUS BATMAN! I have no idea how I missed it before! I must have been blinded by the thought of Harris Teeter's prices every time I stopped at that corner.

I cheerfully remind fellow residents that sign has nothing th do with the HOA.....

 

Yep. There is a line in the sand! Pay attention folks...Our HOA dollars would not be spent for something wasteful llike that by the BHOA! That I know for sure!

 

in all seriousness, i hope that brown is temporary- why make something so BIG then camoflauge it?!?!

am i the only one who thinks it also looks like the sign is for Vantage Point- the neighborhood down Ryan Rd instead of entering the Broadlands?

 

I think the black with the brown leaf actually blend in a bit with the trees behind it. Kind of earth-tones mixed together. I think we will get used to it. At least it has everyone talking.

 

Finally saw it on the way back from home depot. That thing IS huge.

 

I saw the sign the other day while driving with my husband and kids. I almost didn't see it, yet it IS so.... L A R G E. Don't they call that an oxymoron?

 

I actually didn't notice it either until I was almost right next to it. It was getting dark though.

 

That's beause the neon pink paint hasn't been applied yet!!

 

it's pretty gaudy and gigantic and yes, it blends in with the background, so it's very odd looking

 

The moat (soon to be kiddie pool) around the sign is being filled with water right now. The truck says "Pool Water" in big letters. I wonder if it will be a flowing waterfall effect or a geyser to accent the ginormous letters.

Either way, I am sure a frat house will take a liking to it some day. What are the possibilities (just like they did to the other sign, if you recall).

The sign is awesome. It announces our presence with authority!

Some lights in that area would help, too. Last night on my way home around 9pm, someone came off the greedway , taking a left at that intersection, and was driving ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD! They didn't make it over to the correct lanes. Luckily I was in the right lane.

I'm being optomistic...maybe when the whole feature is finished the sign won't stand out so much.

 

Chsalas - did you post a picture somewhere? Would love to see it since I don't go out that way.

 

Wait until we get some strong 40 mph winds and that big leaf ends up flying out onto the Greenway. I saw the water spilling down over the levels last night after they filled it, but the effect was very understated compared to the gargantuan letters. I've got to believe they've also got a geiser of a fountain buried under there somewhere...

 

This water feature is ugly. I like the ones over in brambleton - they look more natural.
