We have a GE Pot-scrubber Dishwasher (probably the one that was put in most Broadlands town-homes) that is not receiving any water. I've done a bit of research and am thinking perhaps it's the "water-inlet valve".....not that I really have any idea. I took off the bottom panel and there's a small pool of water in there, but outside of that, the dishwasher is not receiving any water when we turn it on.

Anyone had similar problem? Would love some advice and be able to stop hand-washing the dishes.

If this is too big of a job maybe someone knows someone who may be able to fix it for a small fee?

    Thanks....

We have the same one, and had the same problem. We called a GE tech who came in, said its a common issue in this line. He replaced the electrical panel (behind the front buttons) and it worked fine after that. I forget how much it was offhand.

If it's anything like the original one that the builder put in our townhome, that pool of water indicates a bad pump and we didn't want to risk any issues with leaks, considering it was a 10 year old unit. Additionally, our model had been recalled once and we had enough and went out and bought a new one; much better and much more quiet.

My suggestion is that you need to figure out the source of the leak first. It's still connected to the water supply, so there could be a risk that the leak becomes even worse and causes more damage.

I doubt its a leak, we had the exact same symptoms to the letter. Pool of water at the bottom, water wouldn't drain and no more water was coming in when turning it on (but it still made all its noisy fuss). I thought the same things, took the drainage section apart, checked the hoses etc. Ended up just being the electrical panel - but of course with these things it could very well be something different.

I thought the original poster indicated they saw water 'under' the dishwasher, when they opened the panel on the bottom. My bad...

Your float valve thing-a-ma-jig is stuck closed. Beat with a crab hammer and try again. Worked on mine...

while you're in there, make sure that the doohickey that's connected to the thing-a-ma-jig is operating goodly.

You can find a lot of info on google/etc. I've fixed multitudes of appliance/HVAC problems that way...

Well the water is not in the bottom of the dishwasher but rather below the panel i had to remove. It runs but when you open it up the washer is completely dry.

Doesn't sound like there's an easy fix that I'm missing (other then the hammer to the thing-a-ma-jig) so i guess it's either a repair man or a new one.

We have a leak from the bathroom on the kitchen ceiling and a broken computer so I'd prefer the cheapest fix possible.

Hornerjo, do you have a guess as to how much you paid for the GE repair?

I don't recall offhand, it wasn't a lot, but that does sound like the same problem we had. Open the door and remove the screws and open it apart. Check the electrical panel for any damage, you could see where ours had burnt out.
