So, I grew up a die hard Orioles fan. All was great, especially in the mid 90's (damn that Jeffrey Mayer). For the last 12 years though, they have been pitiful to say the least. I took my son to a Nats game this past summer and had a pretty good time. Now I find myself wearing a Nats t-shirt (they gave them out with all tickets at the door). A couple of years ago when the Nats first arrived, I thought "How could those Nationals enfringe on the O's turf"? Apparently...it's pretty easy!
Never thought it could happen, but I could be moving to the dark side...aka...the national league sometime soon. Angelos has done nothing to improve this team and they are just plain bad. So hard to cheer for them. As of now, I'll still wear my O's shirt because I've grown up with them...but they sure are making it difficult.
    Any thoughts? How about you?

same here but Angelos has done nothing, absolutely nothing to build a competitive team in so so long that its hard to stay loyal, especially with the distance. I'm beginning to lose patience with the Lerner's as well. Boswell wrote an excellent article at the beginning of last season giving the Lerners one more bebuilding season and then that's it. As the attendance records show, the excitement of "baseball is back" and then "the new stadium" has already worn off with the dreadful performance. It would truly suck if the Lerners follow Angelos's business model.

Orioles are pretty much a second tier team now or a typical "small market" team. With Angelos, they cannot or will not compete year in, year out in the AL East against the BIG money teams in the Sox and Yankees and even the talent-rich Rays (think they will be a short term success).

I think the Nationals need to be more like the Rays and build from within but they also need to spend some cash to attract some marketable talent to fill the seats, even if they have to over pay a bit for an aging star.
