Performing and Visual Arts Northwest (PAVAN) summer program

    The post about summer camps made me think of this. PAVAN is administered by the VA Dept of Gifted Ed and Shenandoah Univ. and Clarke, Frederick, Loudoun, Shenandoah and Warren counties and Winchester City.

    They have day summer programs for rising 1st - 12th graders. When my daughter was in HS, she attended the 2-week Summer Regional Governor's School for rising 9th - 12 graders in voice, and this program also encompasses jazz band, visual arts, guitar, dance, art, drama, creative writing and more.

    You have to audition and students accepted are awarded a scholarship to pay their tuition. Bus transportation is provided from an eastern and western Loudoun HS. It is a FABULOUS program!

    Applications must be postmarked by March 5 and auditions are April 6 and 7 at Shenandoah Conservatory. Here's a link to PAVAN that gives information about programs for the other age groups:
