We've been using Aptive for the past few years and I've gotten tired of them telling me the pests we have around they are not licensed for so cannot treat. Plus they have been silently increasing the price each visit. I've been looking into other companies but I'm curious if anyone out there has a current recommendation. The last thread on this looks to have been more than 7 years ago.

Glad you are leaving Aptive. We used them years ago and long story short, the last 2 visits their technician basically sat in his truck in front of our house for 30 minutes and left, not performing any service. I was billed for both visits. I had video of both visits, and after a call to the manager, I was immediately credited and had my contract canceled, and a confirmation email sent to me directly. Since then, I have been telling people about my experience with them and suggesting that they stay away.

Since then, I just do what they were doing myself. It's much cheaper and I know that what I'm using is safe for my dogs, etc. If that's an option for you, I recommend you try it - it will save you a LOT of money and be just as effective, if not more.

What pests are you treating for? In my 22 years, I've only had a mice issue.

We have a biting something in our yard that gets up under cloths and absolutely destroys your skin you never see them. I know it's not mosquitoes as they don't generally get under cloths. Aptive said it's likely biting mites or chiggers but they refused to treat for them. We have a French drain thru the yard and I've tried those dunks for mosquitoes and other traps. Doesn't do a thing. I feel horrible for the kids playing in the yard as they all just get destroyed. Only heavy deet bug spray keeps them ok. Been dealing with this for 2 or 3 years now with no luck. That's the main thing I want to get rid of. I can treat for ants, spiders, and things myself.

I recall your previous thread about this issue. They are biting midges or no-see-ums and love moisture. I get attacked by them when fixing the brick steps. The are burrowing in the moist sand beneath the bricks. I ended up buying Smidge to use when I have to do yard work. It's not toxic and works.

Aside from getting rid of your french drain, try consulting with a soil engineer to see if they have a solution.

    Where did you find Smidge?

There is no getting rid of the french drain unfortunately. It crosses three yards and was put in by VM because our yard was a swamp due to 6 properties draining through our yard. Now it's a dry riverbed but that's better. Finding a good soil engineer is a challenge. Everyone who has been out has been useless so far. I guess the search keeps on going but you are probably right. Pest control companies are probably a no go at this point.

I found it on Ebay but it cost a small fortune since it's shipped from the UK. I ordered 2 bottles because it's a 2.5oz bottle. This stuff works on mosquitos and ticks too. I found out about it when I was planning to travel to the Scottish Highlands. They're horrible during the summer months (the midges, not the Scottish.)

I’ve used Veteran Pest Control the last two years and have been very happy with them. They come quarterly like clockwork. They also were the only company I could find that would remove starlings nesting in a vent where the cap had fallen off.
