We moved here almost three years ago from CT and still can't find a pizza we like. We love New Haven or New York style pizza. Thin crust, not too doughy but just enough so that you can fold the slice like a taco. Anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks again

Sal's is the closest location for NY pizza. You can also try Tony's in Fair Lakes or Buon Appetito in Chantilly.

Wegmans Italian pizza - ready made and frozen. The best. Sorry, not take out, but saves money and is the best pizza I know this side of Italy.

We like Sals too. I especially like their meat pizza (yum) AND you can get discounts on restaurant.com.

There isn't much to choose from for thin crust NY-style pizza around here, but the closest I've found is Pomodoro (both the Ice House location in Ashburn, and the Dulles location near Best Buy).

I still cannot understand the positive reviews Sal's gets. The three times I've gotten pizza there I've been very disappointed. To me, it's just a step above Domino's/Papa John's/Vocelli, etc. I believe they bake their pizza on a metal pan in the oven (not directly on the piza oven's surface). Which, I think, prevents the crust from getting very crisp (and therefore, is something quite unlike the NY-style pizza I'm used to).

Giovanni's in Leesburg. The best NY pizza my ex said he ever had here.

I like(d) Giovanni's too until one day I watched the cook throw the pizza crust up and it hit the ceiling-he still made the pizza (yuck!). Their steak and cheeses rock, though...

That's gross!!! Did you say something to Gino? I'm sure he wouldn't have served that pizza.

Giovanni's is good, if you're willing to fight traffic getting into Leesburg around dinnertime. It's definately NY-style pizza.

The very first restaurant we went to when house hunting in Ashburn was Manhattan Pizza (next to Bloom) and we absolutely loved it! At first it was the exceptional service and hospitality, but the pizza is also top notch. After living here for almost 2 years now, Manhattan is still our favorite pizza restaurant in the area and we have tried many of the others around here. In fact, we ordered pizza tonight from Manhattan. My wife loves the whole wheat "low carb" option.

I like Manhattan as well but find that at times they take so long to deliver that the pizza is lukewarm at best. However, when we've eaten at the restaurant, the pizza is fantastic.

Emillios is our favorite! If not Emillios and I have time, we make our own.

We love Fireworks Pizza in Leesburg, attached to Tuscarora. Their pizzas aren't that big, but they are made of quality and local organic ingredients and if you like beer, you'll LOVE their huge selection. Menu is on their website: http://www.fireworkspizza.com/

If you care to venture outside of the Loudoun Area. 2 Amy's pizza in DC is phenomenal!

I agree with LMT's post. I gave Sal many chances because I wanted to support a local place but I've given up. The owner seems nice but the food itself is just okay.

I like going to Rubino's in the Ashbrook shopping center. It reminds me most of the pizza I used to get in the NY/NJ area - thin greasy layer on top of the cheese, with thin crunchy crust. The only difference is that NYC pizza is larger in size. This place does pretty good business during lunch.

The next best place would be Pomodoro's, but I happen to think that the one by the Ice rink is bettter than the one by the mall.

I love Emilio's - they have great pizza, give it a try.

Sal's pizza is always iffy, same thing with Manhattan pizza. Seems like the bottom crust gets soft and mushy too easily. If you have to tear into the pizza to get your bite, then I don't consider it NY-style.
