If anyone has a premiee car seat I could borrow or buy, please reply. My son and his wife just had a 3lb. 8oz. baby girl and they are required to have a "premiee" carseat in order to bring her home. Thanks

Our son was about the same size, but I never heard of a preemie carseat. We used rolled up towels to fit him in for the ride home. (I think, hard to remember, he's 4 today!)

More than likely you might need a car seat bed. It will allow the baby to lay down not sit. Our son was a preemie (though big for a preemie) and they were concerned about the car seat (that he would not be able to breathe properly) and we would need the bed to take him home. They performed a car seat test on him, we brought in the car seat and they monitored him for 1 hour while he sat in it (and in fact he fell asleep). He passed but they were surprised. Fairfax hospital rents them I believe so you don't have to jump through hoops getting them home in those first couple of days. You might want to try ebay or craigslist because they aren't used all that long before the little ones grow and then you are back to a regular car seat.

Our daughter was a preemie back in 2002 -what we used was an insert that was designed for preemies that fit in an existing car seat which allowed them to be better supported - we still had to use towels on the sides, but it was "preemie sized" to prevent too much movement.
