I am sick and tired of picking up my dry cleaning at the Broadlands Dry Cleaners, next to Safeway, and dealing with some knucklehead, holier than thou, inconsiderate, pompous driver who parks their lame *** car in the fire lane. Right in front of the store. IT'S NOT YOUR DAMN RESERVED PARKING SPACE idiot!

What the heck are you thinking!! It's a friggin FIRE LANE, it doesn't say "special people get to park here".

STOP PARKING IN FRONT OF THE CLEANERS! Just because the damn curb is painted yellow doesn't mean you have some special privilege to park there.

It's a fire lane for a purpose; SO A DAMN FIRE TRUCK CAN PARK THERE if necessary.

I pray for the day a fireman drives up during an emergency and smashes out your side windows to pass thru a fire hose.

(Now I feel a little better)

But don't you realize-they are more important than you and their time is more valuable...

But I have kids in the car, and my husband's suits are too heavy to walk the extra 20 feet to a legitimate paking space....[IMG]

....and I REALLY AM more important than you! [IMG] (sarcasm off)

ohhh puuuleaze! Eeeveryone does it and as a tax-paying Ashburn resident, IIII should be able to drive, park, walk and stop ANYWHERE I want to. even if it's the middle of the street so I can chat with my neighbor walking her dog- just GO AROUND ME! do it quickly in case a car is speeding from the other direction while you are driving in THEIR lane...

honestly i wish people would stop complaining about my self-centered behavior... it's bringing me down. i may have to drive to Clydes to drown my sorrows and hopefully not kill anyone as I drive 1 mile home slightly intoxicated... <sarcasm off>

Hopefully, your car is towed from Clyde's yellow curb before you can return to drive home. :devil2:

Oh, and don't get mad at me for coming into your lane (while you're occupying it) because I only realized, at the last minute, that I need to be where you are. I was too busy talking on my cell phone, texting people and handing things to my kids who are walking around the back of my minivan to be paying attention. I had every right to flip you off for honking at me. I didn't TOTALLY run you off the road and it's all your fault anyway. You shouldn't have been where I needed to be. (Sarcasm off).

Sorry-I've just had that happen A LOT lately.

I do not mind people who do this if they do it in the far out unused spaces, but if they do it in the most often used spaces I park as close as possible just to piss them off. And if I have time, I wait to to see what they will do and what they have to say.

Frankly, I believe ALL SUV's should be relegated to the BACK of the parking lot and design the lot so they do not have BACK into the space and hold everyone up because it takes two or three trys to get it right!

Oh, did I mention the drivers in parking lots who think it's the Indy 500?

umm, exCUSE me Mr. Pot8o but WHY should IIII walk further than those with inferior vehicles?? if you ask ME- THEY should be the ones parking further out. After all, don't business around here LIKE it when the expensive cars crowd the front of the lot? why else would we be called Cashburn?

I think Dr. Seuss had a point with the star bellied sneeches- no star- park it far!

(ugh- this false online persona of mine is starting to make me sick... too bad I actully KNOW people like this! :eww:)

Why not just be a polite neighbor - if they have left the car running, just move it - around the corner. This way the person will not get a ticket.

Although it rarely takes me more than 1 attempt, I will gladly agree to this if those who drive something the size of Honda Civic or smaller agree to permanently forego their right to drive if they ever:
a.) require multiple attempts to park
b.) fail to park within space markings
c.) occupy more than one lane of travel, except when making an intentional lane change.

It is not the SUVs themselves! SUVs have a much better turning radius than most other cars on the road.

afgm - I am special and since the world revolves around me, that's why I park in the fire lane.

Don't you know it's so hard to juggle my chai-half soy machiatto, a hyperactive 2 year old, while talking on my new iPhone. Then I have to rummaging around my Louie just to find my dry cleaning ticket which is shmeared from my Chanel glossimer.

My life is so hard and I can't afford to waste the 30 seconds to park my BMW in a proper spot. Why are you so mean, after all I am the victim here and general rules of society don't apply to me. <sarcasm off>

Seriously you do have a point and parking the fire lane is dangerous and rude.

Can someone explain WHY people back into parking spots? And for some reason it does seem to be SUVs drivers who do this. What's wrong with facing forward? Are they trying for a quick get-away? No matter how good/experienced they are at the backing-in process, it is lengthy and unnecessarily time-consuming. Whatever time is saved on the get-away is taken up by the initial parking procedure. Is it required for certain vehicles or certain people? Is it just to be a pain in the *** to those who are patiently waiting to get around the whole mess? A way of saying "I am here and I will hinder you." Please enlighten me!

i rarely back in but if it's a tight parking lot I tend to pull forward into the spot so my front end is facing out... people are so danged oblivous to the world around them that they walk behind your vehicle when you are backing out with NO CLUE how close to grave injury or death they just came. so rather than slam on my breaks to rob Darwin of yet another member, I pull thru.

it's not ever about time for me- it's about safety. if i drove a vehicle that sat up high or one where it's hard to see what's behind me- i'd always face toward the lane

I agree - it's more of a "pull thru" not a back in.
