Sort of a techie-related question. The rechargable batteries that we use for our digital camera stinks. Sometimes we can barely get a couple of shots before we get the low battery flashing symbol. Now, we got the kids each a new Leapster for Christmas (one of which has broken in less than 24 hours--but that is another issue of which I am trying to get replaced), and I was researching Leapster issues when I came across a discussion for rechargable batteries. Has anyone heard of Oneloop brand? Or, Powerex? It is better to get 2000+mAh batteries? Someone educate me on rechargeable batteries :) Maybe I won't want to throw our digital camera against the wall the next time we have an important event to capture...

How old is the camera? Rechargables are not forever and need to be replaced every 2 - 4 years depending on a lot of things. Have you completely discarged the battery (to the point where the camera doesn't even come on) then recharged it?

Also - try this site: http://www.greenbatteries.com/faqs.html

A decent education from an on-line store.

Are you talking about AA batteries or a specialty kind for cameras? Rechargeable AA, C, D, etc. can only be recharged a limited amount of times. I don't know what that limit is, though. According to the Energizer website, you should be able to recharge them hundreds of times.

I've only used the Energizer brand in rechargeable batteries so I don't know anything about other brands.

It's Eneloop and its the new breed of rechargeable battery from Sanyo. You can use it out of the box and it has a slow shelf discharge rate compared with current rechargeable batteries. Say you use your digicam today for 100 shots and put it away for a month, if you are using Eneloop then chances are there are charge left on it compared with regular rechargeables.
