    I had wanted to provide my son with an unforgettable firetruck birthday, and after finding out AVFD doesn't have any options for party visits, I fond his company. Couldn't be more pleased with the experience, approximately an hour of activities from a safety brief, bag toss to prep for the 'water cannon' target practice, free reign of the engine, gear demo, and a lights and 'small' siren salute on depature. Definitely a hit with my son and his compadres... Info at http://www.capitolftr.com/ or on Facebook at Capitol Fire Truck Rentals, LLC

    Wow. When did that change? We had our 8 year old's 3rd birthday party at AVFD and it was awesome. Although, I will say, it was terrifically PAINFUL to schedule. I was stunned that they did not charge more than they did at the time (I think it was $50) and use it as a fundraising oppty. Glad your party was awesome.

    Thanks.

    Sorry if I was unclear...AFVD will still host parties at the firehouse, I wanted to host the party at home and have the firetruck drive up - and that specifically was a no-go. I was thinking along the similar lines, that it would be a great fundraising opportunity for the local FD.

    I'm not clear on why they don't consider visits and didn't think to ask at the time. The guys that drove the truck down also work for MoCo FD and indicated thet they do accomodate those types of requests as much as possible (but obviously no guarantees in the event there's a call).

    I was thinking the same thing. Too bad. We had my son's birthday 6 years ago, they came by ( no fee at all) just a donation, and were fabulous! Even lit his candles for him! Guess we aren't small town anymore. (;
    Glad to hear you found another resource. If your child is into firetrucks, the Winchester Apple blossom firetruck parade is unbelievable. It is usually during the day on Friday (in the spring) and goes on forever...but SO much fun!!
