I searched in the forums and noted that there are problems with the shower doors that Van Metre installed. Ours seem to have a thin metal strip connecting the shower door to the frame. The top portion is broken and the shower door closes with a one inch gap.

Has anybody experienced this? What was your solution? I am looking for an inexpensive solution. It seems that replacing the shower door/ frame costs $1,000+++, so that is out of the question.

Did anybody just remove the thin metal strip & added hinges to the door? Who did you use? How much did it cost?

Thank you in advance for any input/ info.

I took the door down and replaced it with a shower rod and curtain. I hated cleaning the glass and mold would grow deep in the cracks. Extremely hard to clean. Much happier without it.
