I've mentioned before that my sister is a master trainer for Chi Running and Chi walking. She is willing to come up here from Charlotte as it warms up, to train anyone interested in this for 1/2 day at the rate of $125. There is a trainer in DC who charges $225 for 7 hours!

What does this do? A common posting is: I ran a 5k recently. As runners were coming towards me - on the return side, I could see them grimacing and hear them huffing and puffing. At the end of the race, I had NO pain, was NOT out of breath and easily could have run two more miles.

My Sister has trained lifetime runners who now feel great when the run, Middle aged men who look preggers and a pediatrician, all of whom had never run before and now run all the time and have lost significant weight.

She may be able to also fit in walkers, like me who cannot run, due to loss of knee cartilage or degenerative disc disease in the lower lumber area.

When she ran miles around a track, she looked like she was doing effortless ballet, while every looked like their feet were locked in concrete. she finished her run with several supermans, and then ran backwards for a bit. Crazy Man! She is also a certified physical trainer.

Her class two weeks ago had 11 people in it. She now teaches this more often than personal training and has people from nearby states or farther away towns in NC come to her classes. The fact that she'd come up to Broadlands is only because I live here.

You can let me know if you'd be interested, so I can give her an idea of how many she'd have. I'm thinking sometime in March.

Sounds intriguing. My trainer is going to loan me her Chi Running book. I'd like to look into a little bit and then maybe take your sister's class.

JLC - book may help, but class will be better. It's one thing to read about it. Amy can teach you the right posture and watch you and correct you, so definately take the class!

Everyone else, I'll keep a running tally to let her know. She may come up in February. Usually she teaches inside, then you go outside for the remainder.

Re: Calling all Runners and wanna be's

This is from an email my sister sent to the people she taught over the years:

It has been an incredible pleasure to train you in Chi Running and Chi Walking for the past few years and see your progress.

Chi Running and Chi Walking has given thousands of people across the US and the world the freedom to run at any speed without pain and injury.
It has also led to increased joy, decreased stress and best - the freedom to look past old injuries and preconceived notions to pursue goals
    some never considered possible-
whether it be a 5K, Half Marathon, Marathon or Ultra.

It is my hope you feel this freedom of movement and spirit and experience the ultimate joy ride of your life this 2011.

Trust me, it is life changing. Here are 3 testimonial from my last workshop.

"The flying feeling was really fun and not something I had felt since I was a kid!"

"I went out with my dog yesterday for a longer run in our neighborhood (a little under 6 miles...lots of hills). I usually run for the first 2 miles, then walk/run the remainder. Yesterday, I ran the entire time and felt great! Nearly 3 times the distance the first time out using the chi techniques!! And, the best part: I felt *graceful*. I have NEVER in my life felt graceful!! It almost felt like I was floating. I'm so excited about my new "practice"!
So, on Saturday, when I said I wasn't a runner....can I change my answer to "I am a CHI RUNNER"! Thanks so much for your teachings and support! I'm SOLD!!"

"I did not even feel like I was running. I did not even feel the ground!"

Re: Calling all Runners and wanna be's

    :rolleyes3:Hi All,

So far if you are still interested, i have 10 people who want to take the class.

Currently, I'm working to get my sister up to teach on the last weekend of this month. I need to know how many of you still want to take the class.

It will most likely be on Saturday the 29th. I'll let you know the deets when I firm them up with her later tomorrow.

I'd like to add that Chi walking is beneficial as well. So if there are walkers around come to this class, let me know if you're interested. you'd be surprised how fast you can walk and still feel good!

Re: Calling all Runners and wanna be's

Ok, I don't know how this thread ended up in For Sale!

Anyway, my sister's husband "voulnteered" them to host the end of baseball party at their house on the 30th. Bummer. As busy as she is with the type 8 kids and the Gordon Setter puppy, running the house and her chi biz...well she has no tome for herself.

She has to sit down with him to plan the next few months. At first, she said maybe May 21st, but hten she said, oh but Patrick's graduation is the weekend before that. I guess that overwhelmed her...she also siad there was a trainer in DC, and I told her not many of you would want to go all the way there to train.

Hold tight. I WILL get her up here, just remember she trains people year round, so even if you have begun to run, you can still learn the better way to do it.
