Good point, T8! I love how Yankees fans, who can no longer chant "1918!" or "See you in another 86 years!" are now stuck with "26-2!" (Not to mention that they always conveniently leave out the fact that the Red Sox won 5 World Series before that run of 26 started. But 26-7 doesn't sound quite as good.)

They're pathetic--before too long they'll be left with "Well, our payroll is WAY bigger than yours!" :)

Not if the Sox sign Santana (which I hope they do!) :D

Red Sox could become the new Yankees with their bloated payroll, buying up stars, and obnoxious fans. The Yankees may even invoke sympathy with their recent woes. Okay, not really.

Agree about the Sawks becoming the new Yankees. I grew up hating North Carolina basketball, so I sort of rooted for Duke in the mid-to-late '80's/early '90's as the ACC alternative to the Tar Heels -- sure enough, Duke has become what I hated about North Carolina.

For the record, I was kidding (sort of) about Appy State finishing in 1st or 2nd in the Big Ten. While they showed that on a given day a quality 1-AA school can surprise a big-time 1-A school, they would likely not be able to compete week-to-week in a bit-time 1-A conference.

Good luck to your Buckeyes in the BCS title game. I was originally of the opinion that they would be outclassed, but given the way the last few weeks of the season unfolded (w/LSU losing to Arkansas, etc) I really think that LSU vs. OSU is a competitive game.

I agree. Win or lose, I think this game has great entertainment potential.

What I don't understand is how all the experts who predicted/wanted and OSU/LSU NC game before they both lost are now *****ing that two teams who lost recently are in the game.

I think this is just one of those years in which there is not a consensus satisfactory title game. I know that the BCS champion automatically wins the title, but I wonder who the Associated Press champion would be in the following scenario : LSU beats OSU 10-9 in a poorly played game while undefeated Hawaii hammers Georgia 35-7 (I understand that this is unlikely, but play along). I believe that there is precedent for co-Champions (wasn't USC voted the AP #1 when LSU defeated Oklahoma in the BCS title game ?).

Depends on your definition of "recent". Of course, a supporter of the team with the all time LOSING record will find a definition that meets their needs.
    Work with me here, T8!!!!
I hope OSU beats LSU 49-0. That'll teach Les Miles for turning down Michigan!!
And, yes, it will pain me to support OSU, but in this case it's the right thing to do!

I am not sure it is as likely to happen this year. Note in 2003 USC was ranked ahead of LSU in the AP poll going into the bowl game. Since LSU and USC both won, and LSU did not leap USC in the AP, we had co-champs. This year OSU and LSU are #1/#2 in both polls going into the title game so I suspect the AP will be in sync with the BCS after the title game with respect to who's #1.

I think that things worked out fine for Michigan -- Rich Rodriguez is a really good coach who will modernize the Wolverine offense and add some juice back to the OSU-Michigan rivalry.

I think it will take a double shot of moonshine to get that rivalry back in gear!!
