Adelphia was pretty bad last night. I haven't checked this morning but I was on the AOL wireless trial most of last night. It's nice having options. :D

I'm not sure what's going on but it's been over a month since I've seen speeds in the +5Mb range. I used to get over 6Mb on a `normal' night. Tonight I'm having a hard time hitting 2Mb on premier. I've also noticed (for lack of a better word) jitter on my Vonage line and frequent drops playing online games. I haven't called Adelphia yet because I kept switching to one of my other network connections but now I'm wondering why I'm still paying for the service. Anyone else seeing problems with Adelphia?

I have had frequent dropped connections over the past several days. Probably my case is isolated, since most of my troubles started when I went from Cable TV to Dish. I kept the cable modem, but disconnected the TV service.

sri_n, why do you think it's isolated? Switching to Dish shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, it should not. Hence I am not sure what is really going on, I have had Adelphia send tech a couple of times already, but the problem just does not seem to go away. I have adelphia coming again this afternoon to check it out.

Due to the way the cables are laid out in my house, I had to use diplexers on both ends to combine and split the signals from my dish and cable. (I did not get new cables laid for the Dish, just reused the existing cable infrastructure). Not sure if that is a cause for the problem. Anybody here have similar issues?

yep, removed the diplexers, and all is well. I am getting a steady connection. Havent done speed tests though.

Vonage and other VOIP users - when adelphia is "slow" how bad is the voice connection? I'd like to switch to voip to get rid of verizon and justify the adelphia bill :) Adelphia is currently my only broadband choice.

    opinions? thanks!

With premier the connection is fine for VoIP even when Adelphia is slow. As long as you have set QoS or don't use the connection for other heavy use. I find basic web surfing while on the phone is fine even without QoS.
