Yesterday and this morning there have been some pauses and delays in our internet. Is this unique to us or are the (supposed) N. Korean internet attacks affecting the overall system? I figured I'd ask before I start poking around with our wiring at home.

I'm having the same problem. I ran a speedtest on the net and the results are dismal. Something is definitely wrong. A call to Verizon is in order.

Yep, I called about this yesterday too. There is an outage...some sort of DNS problem. They are actively working on it, but wouldn't give an estimate as to when they expect the problem to be resolved.

Thanks for the feedback. It's probably a system-wide effect of the cyber attacks.

We were having the same issues yesterday afternoon. Fios tech support said they were experiencing "nationwide issues." Hmmmm, nationwide? By evening, internet still experiencing spotty connection so I called to check on the status of this "nationwide issue." Different tech said it was a DNS issue and that it was resolved shortly after I called that afternoon. He had me try resetting the router with no luck. He did not see any local outages or issues, but did mention he had a customer having the same issues that called shortly before I did. He thought maybe we might need a new router, but sounds like it is a network issue since many of you have been experiencing the same thing. Internet still not acting right this morning. Anyone hear more about this issue?

They told us yesterday it was my router and are sending me a new one. However, now I am thinking it is their problem. It really stinks since I can't get a lot of stuff done that I need to use the internet for.

I use OpenDNS and my connection was also slow this morning. It's seems to be a Verizon issue.

Ditto on the OpenDNS but I don't think it's limited to Verizon. The cyber attacks on many government and other websites are my guess as the culprit since it's in the news. The article doesn't discuss the effect on the internet as a whole but it's certainly possible that both the problem AND the solution could cause some temporary outages and slowdowns. But then, I'm no expert.

Still, it's about 4pm on Thursday and so far I haven't had any slowdowns like before so maybe it's all better now.

When I talked with Technical Support last night, the rep said they lost a router.

Sometime late this afternoon my FiOS internet service was back to normal. I hope everyone else is in the same boat.
