This snow has been hard on all of us. Most people have gone out of their way to help.

There is an exception. Many dog owners have not been considerate. I think there is more solid dog waste on the sidewqlks and paths than usual. In addition, there are piles of dog waste around the receptacles. I recomend until there is regular removal of this waste that we dispose of this on our own and that we purchase bags or other items to pick up the waste.

I've been letting my dog out in our fenced very tiny TH back yard to "take care of business" then trying to gather up those bombs. Imagine my delight when someone let their pup leave a load 3 feet from my front door! Unfortunately, you cannot legislate good manners!

Wow, amazing that someone else is thinking the same thing I am. Ever since the blizzard, I have been taking my dog's waste back home with me because I knew that there was no way the receptacles will be able to be emptied. I am also getting tired of dodging these poop mounds. I walk with a flashlight at night for two reasons: one, so I don't step in anything and two, so I can see to pick up after my dog. You know when you see someone walking a dog at night, in the pitch black, that they are NOT picking up after them because they can't see anything! It's just plain rude not to pick up after your pet and I would be embarrassed not doing so.

Not entirely true. I don't carry a flashlight, but I keep her on a short leash and I do pick up all the poop. But my street is pretty well lit - maybe others aren't.... I just don't want others judging me because I don't carry a flashlight! ;-)

The waste is probably always there but is not as noticable as it is now on the white snow....makes you really think about all the dog waste around the neighborhoold.

Sorry didn't mean to judge. My area is NOT lit up at all, so if you don't have a flash light, there no way you can see to pick it up!!

The increase in dog waste that I was referring to is on the path or sidewalk.

I know that this has been a hard time for dog walkers. Even the HOA sidewalks are not really clear. Much of the waste might have been left at a time when the human would have had to climb a mound of snow or ice and then be in snow up to his or her hips. I know this because I have done it many times, with short legs. One of my dogs is particular about where she defecates. I understand all of this.

walked little Beemer (parson russell terrier) and he CLEARLY had to go but there was no cleared grass on our route at all and the idea of pooping on the sidewalk was JUST not an option fofr Mr. Picky Pooper! As soon as he saw a tiny patch of green he took care of biz- it was an emergency by then. i scooped it and the other pile nearby that some one left behind.

pretty dang funny though- he was stressed out about where to do his biz!

Mine is the same way! She has to find just the right spot to go. Usually it's in the tall grasses by the trees. With all this snow, she's been going crazy on our walks...she keeps looking up over the huge mounds of snow at the trees wondering why we can't go over there. Needless to say, this hasn't been pleasant for either of us. We have to walk forever until it gets to the point she can't take it anymore and will just go. Silly girl!
