To be honest, unless you need a specific "app", you will find that the WebOS interface is actually pretty cool. I actually hope that HP winds up licensing the UI to google for inclusion in Android. Remember, WebOS is a linux kernel based OS too, so its not too far of a reach to marry it with a "droid".

The thing I miss most about the transfer from a Pre -> Droid is the "card" interface for app switching. Also, after using WebOS, you can feel the "AGE" in the ipad/iphone OS [think windows 95 vs. winXP]

I already gave my iPad to my daughter, so another tablet would be used even less.

Not cool. Just left the Leesburg Office Depot store where the guy told me that they had some but the employees bought them.

I called around a lot yesterday and got that answer a few times (employees buying the last ones)... I was surprised the staff even told me, and then laughed like it was a joke on me.... The best bet is going to be online.

Exactly. It isn't something you should advertise or brag about.

I also went to Staples and the guy there said he didn't expect to be getting any more in at the store because it costs more to ship them to the store for sale than to sell them online.

It wasn't like I really needed one so I'll wait until HP emails me that they are available again and try then. Or not.

Did anyone that ordered from Barnes and Noble receive a charge alert on their card today? I initially received the charge when I ordered but then it was cancelled like everyone else.

I received an alert today saying B&N had charged again? Just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

I know there are rumors that the next shipments were being delivered today so maybe that is the reason.

Mine was canceled and I don't see anything except that on my B&N order status report.

All my orders from various sources were ultimately canceled. Only one I have which is active is my order which I placed with HP's Small-Medium Business division directly. Looks like that order will be fulfilled over the next 5-7 days.

So, I think I'll end up with 1, which is fine with me...

B&N never had any actual Touchpads 'in stock'; they were accepting orders based on their belief that they would be able to get their hands on some 'after the fact'. They never received any Touchpads and thus were not able to fulfill ANY orders, and all were canceled.

The conspiracy theorists on the Net claim that this was an attempt by B&N to gather a list of potential tablet buyers that they could advertise their Color Nook device to, and that they never intended to really deliver any Touchpads. Who knows; there has been no confirmation/proof that ANYONE has received a Touchpad after placing an order via B&N. They really messed up this time around; accepting thousands of orders for a product you haven't secured inventory for isn't a good way to endear your customers...

Highly agree, although the avg American consumer attention span is all too short and this too will be quickly forgotten...

Overstock pulled a prank recently with ridiculous prices for blue ray collections of star wars and lord of the rings... Easy traffic

Same here. Filed a complaint with Amazon about the shoddy business practice of OnSale, lack of communication as to what was going on, accepting orders for non-existant inventory (a big nono when selling on Amazon), and the random manner in which they actually fulfilled some orders. They have received MANY complaints about them over the last couple days and according to the rumor mill, Amazon is none too happy with their actions and they are about to be removed from Amazon as a 3rd party merchant. Only time will tell...

let me know if you get anything out of it =) Did you just submit a general complaint since the order itself isn't listed in the order history anymore? I still want one or two -- I've signed up on HP's site for notification... who knows if that'll pan out though.

I received an order confirmation for my order from HP Small Business, but still no shipping information. It says I will receive a separate email once my order ships. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Yea, you can still submit a complaint about the merchant directly to Amazon. And I had my Amazon order number to reference in my complaint. While there are some folks out there trying to get some Amazon credit for the horrible customer service by OnSale, I personally am not blaming Amazon and don't feel like they should be the ones faced with the financial burden when a 3rd part merchant messed up. That being said, I would be extremely satisfied to see OnSale get kicked off of Amazon after this fiasco.

In regards to the next 'wave' from HP, pay attention tomorrow and Monday. Those seem to be the days folks are speculating that the next sale will occur. Personally, I don't think it will happen until mid-week next week. I'm sure with everything that has happened so far, HP wants to make sure that they have the proper staff in place, a more robust infrastructure to support the onslaught of customers, etc. With the frenzy going on right now, when this next wave happens, it will make the first sale by HP look like a cakewalk. People are ravenous at this point and you can bet that within seconds of HP accepting orders again, a giant wave will hit their infrastructure harder than they have ever seen before...

Should be fun for the next 7 days :devil2:

Depending on where HP and its warehouses are, it could be a literal wave!

I got my shipping confirmation 72 hours after the initial order confirmation e-mail... from HP Small Business ....

If your Credit Card shows pending charge from HP small business in the amont of the purchase price ...you are in good shape ...

Article from CNET for new HP touchpad owners ...

"And HP is sweetening the deal. "If you have an HP TouchPad...We've selected six apps that normally sell for as much as $14.99 and we're making them available at no cost to HP webOS customers for a limited time," HP said on its Palm Web site today. The promo codes below will expire on August 31, the company said.

Without further ado, here's a sampling:

Multitasking: Glimpse (Inglorious Apps): boosts multitasking with split-screen interface.

Camera for TouchPad: (Keen Studios): options for managing photos and using them with other TouchPad apps.

Bird Guide: (Green Mountain Digital): searchable digital field guide to North American birds offers photographs and bird songs.

Game: Big Boss (Fair Play Labs): featuring heroes and wizards of WackyLands.
