Verizon has asked that Southern Walk residents who live in Phase 4 areas that they not call in to inquire or schedule appointments for FiOS Service until the availability of service is officially announced for Phase 4. As of now, only Phases 1-3 are able to schedule appointments and those residents only should call for service. Details on addresses included in the first three phases are available on www.swhoab.com. The Southern Walk Board expects to hear the status on Phase 4 by the mid next week, after the Memorial Day Holiday. Phase 4 primary construction is over 95% complete.

    Reminder:
OpenBand is NOT turning off their internet (or phone) on June 1st, only their video system. For residents concerned about a gap in video service, OpenBand has placed recommendations for streaming providers in their customer service announcements and has stated that their platform will support video streaming. Any gap is expected to be less than one month in duration and the only barrier expected is scheduling a technician from FiOS to come to the home to do the system install, once your Phase is active.

The timing of the FiOS roll-out and phasing is carefully coordinated and engineered, and the call centers are aligned to handle volumes of calls associated with the phases that are activated. Secondly, the "network create" or the on-line activation of each phase is associated with the hub serving that phase. Each phase is served by a hub, and speeds of the broadband are carefully tested and measured before service delivery is activated in the FiOS system. For each phase, primary construction (the easement), service wire placement (the placement of Fiber to the Home), and splicing/testing must occur (activation). The Southern Walk Board receives information "near real-time" on these activation details and will post on the forums, update swhoab.com; send an update through the Broadlands App, and send an email announcement from the Community manager when the Phases are ready.

That being said, any construction updates for Phases 3 & 4? It is less than two weeks out, and there is most likely going to be a rush to get Verizon out to connect.

I spoke with a Verizon employee one week ago on our street (Phase 3). She said the splicing and testing was completed (she had done that herself) and that she had submitted it to engineering for approval. SHE encouraged me to call Verizon to place the order (which of course I couldn't place) so as to speed up the approval. That was one week ago and NOTHING has happened. We are 10 days away and Im pretty annoyed at all the delays with this transition.

Haven't heard anything further since the 'canned' response from the SWHOA Admin that seemed to be originated by Verizon. I GUESS, as homeowners in Phase 4, we should consider ourselves fortunate that Openband is not planning to terminate data service on June 1st enabling us to stream Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. for video and continue work/business via the internet?.....

Phase 3 is active now but we have to wait until June 3rd for tech to come out (first available).

That is great news, krmckee! Sooner than you thought. June 3rd isn’t too bad. At least you’ve got it locked in now. Us Phase 4 peeps are jealous. LOL

and, there was a construction issue that was identified at the end of last week and with Monday being a Holiday, the work to resolve that took place Tuesday and Wednesday. There should be an update from the Verizon PM today with more information on Phase 4.

The Hub that serves Phase 4 is at the junction of Stone Hollow and Ridgeway and Verizon vans were there yesterday running tests.

Is there a person in charge that can update us on things like this? Katie Halfhill had no idea of this issue.

Katie didn't know there were vans on Ridgeway yesterday? Or that there was a construction issue? Just because there was a construction issue does not mean there will be a significant setback-- and the Board posts updates, as soon as they are received. Updates don't come in unless there is something significant to report. Otherwise the update is "construction continues".

Nope, no knowledge at all. Anyway, hope we hear something from the Board soon, besides "construction continues."
