We have discovered a squirrel in our attic. Any recommendations on a company to help us remove it?

    IF live, call animal control.

IF dead, may just have some pest control company come and deal with it.

I've had to deal with this and no, Loudoun County Pest Control does not remove squirrels from your house.
There are pest control companies that will place traps and remove them later if it catches a squirrel. They run about $200-$300. When a squirrel decides that your attic makes a great nest, they consider it to be THEIR house. Repellents work only for a while, even the fancy flashing strobe light repellent. Your only options are to either trap it and drive it a far distance away or kill it.
I purchased a small squirrel trap at Home Depot for $25. Baited it with peanut butter. Unfortunately for me, the squirrel I was trying for was too big and would get the bait, but not get trapped. The door would fall on her tail and she would just back out of the trap.
I went back to Home Depot to get the Large squirrel trap, but instead decided to get an electric rat zapper. Kills instantly. I ended up getting two squirrels, one male one female.
I'm now squirrel-free and have fixed the holes they made in the soffit to gain entrance.
You're welcome to borrow my traps. Just send me a PM.

I have also heard the ultrasonic repellents (speakers) can be effective ways to get rid of them too without having to kill them or use a professional. I think they should be $20-40 for a couple of them. You would have to run an extension cord for electricity to plug them in.

And yes I would think you still have to find and block the entrance they use later after they leave.

    Just an idea

I had the problem a few years ago. I used a trap and caught them in the attic, one at a time. Then transported them far away. Once the "general knowledge" of how to get to the attic was removed, I then patched the hole. If you close the hole and the squirrels still know about the attic they may try to eat their way through the patch. I was also concerned about trapping one in the attic after it had been patched. Hence the squirrel removal first step.

I can attest to that. Had some exterior painting done a couple years back and they repaired a hole in the fascia (I didn't know it was a squirrel portal at the time). Sure enough, within 24 hours they destroyed that work and I had to shell out for repair and touch up - again. Make sure they are gone far away before sealing up the entrance.
