Just went up to Maryland near Baltimore and had some really great "Colossal" Crab cakes and some Steamed Crabs this weekend.

Are there any good places around here to get a bushel of steamed crabs?

How about the best place for crab cakes?

Our nextdoor neighbors go to the crab shack (literally) on the south side of 50 between 606 and South Riding Blvd. Small building, not much parking, and they love it. Don't know about crab cakes.

    Barbara Munsey, from South Riding.

best local place for crabcakes is your kitchen. If you can make a decent hamburger, you can make crabcakes. They'll be better than what you can buy at a local restaurant.

We go down to the Maine Avenue waterfront in DC for our crabs. Much, much cheaper (but with gas prices, who knows). Always good to go to the source. And if you've never been to the fish market, kind of a fun experience.

There is a place in fairfax city called Captain Pell's. It has been around a very long time. When I was a kid they used to be in a really run down building on Rt 50, now they have moved to a newer location. http://www.captpellscrabcakes.com/

    Very very good.
