Walking through the woods today behind my house. Found a rather large camp site located behind a neighbors house. The camp site has a large tent, surrounded by green tarps creating a large privacy yard. Inside the yard there were boxes and a camp stove. Definitely a very suspicious site that doesn’t look like it was constructed by kids. Apparently talking to a neighbor the county sheriffs were notified at the beginning of the month and no changes to the site or updates from the sheriffs office. All the neighbors are concerned as most have young children who play in the neighborhood and sometimes in the woods. Not sure what is the process to have to site removed and taken down? The site is located in Overland Park Neighborhood behind Merion St. I thought passing this information to the community would be best to keep everyone aware to report any strange or abnormal activity in the area.

I'd try to get the neighbors to hammer the sheriffs office with phone calls. If they get enough flack for it, they'll do something about it.

LCSO is aware of the situation and is working towards a solution. The site may not be on Broadlands property, but on Carrisbrooke. Nevertheless, it's a situation that needs to be handled by the sheriffs department. They are trying to locate the person(s) using the area but have not bee able to locate them thus far. If you see anyone occupying the space, please contact the sheriffs department so they can dispatch a deputy.
