I have a 4.5 yr old son. I want him to go for Swimming lessons (its his first time).

Want to know if anyone knows of a teacher who can give him weekends lessons? Any group lessons?

    Or

Are there swimming lessons available thru our Broadlands HOA or Broadlands pool?

    Thanks.

Personally, I would recommend Potomac Swim School, located in those brown 'flex buildings' behind the large Verizon facility. My daughter has been attending classes there for about 2 years and she can now do laps in the pool at age 6! Classes are small (2-4) kids per instructor, and private lessons are also available. The staff there is extremely nice, and their instructors are caring and skilled with working with small kids.

What ever happened to parents actually teaching kids things like this?

(not trying to be an A$$ but some of my fond childhood memories were learning different things from my parents. Although maybe I could make money on a "learn how to ride a bike" school, and "learn how to tie your shoes" school.

Heh heh. Good point. Still, a friend of mine teaches at Potomac Swim School and she says that she could never teach her son to swim because he doesn't pay as much attention to her as he does other instructors. He just responds better to someone other than her in that situation.

The Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion offers swim lessons: group, semi-private (2 kids) and private. It is open to the public, but residents pay less.

Did you never have professional lessons in something? There are some things that parents aren't able to do. I don't know how to swim so I'm going to pay someone to teach my children how to do it. There's nothing wrong with that.

You may want to check out www.potomacswimschool.com, a local, private, indoor facility for year round swim lessons in 91 degree water! Their group classes are limited to 4 children and private classes are also available. Hope this helps.
