My rant.. The deer that hit my car today (no, I did not hit it haha). Thankfully no damage, although the guy driving beside me found it quite funny (yes I'm talking to you light colored BMW man). My 135 made it through the hideous event!

The price of MacBooks. I want one but Apple wants too much for one. (Yes, I know the counterargument: buy refurb, they're more affordable.)

People using cellphones in toilet stalls in public restrooms. (Creepy....)

Cellphones not set to silent/vibrate in my office.

People who forget to turn their turn signals off after changing lanes or turning through a turn too shallow to engage the auto-turnoff feature. I never know where they're going next.

The driver of a white Hyundai VA. L.P. KCL-4889 who nearly f***ing killed me at the 267/495 interchange by cutting me off so close they nearly sideswiped me into a SEMI TRUCK and then FLIPPED ME OFF like *I* did something wrong! GRARRRGHHHH HULK SMASH.

    Squirrels.

Seriously, they're out to take over the world.

People who walk their dogs at 5am and let them bark the entire way. Walk: OK. Bark: Not OK. Srsly.

Drivers in a public parking lot who cut through parking spaces at full speed instead of driving in DRIVING lanes and parking in PARKING spots. Been hit once and nearly hit several times by these fools.

Travelers at airports who aren't ready to get thru the security gate. Come on, the rules have been in place for YEARS, now. No, you can't take your water. Yes, take off your shoes. Yes, take your laptop out.

Travelers at airports who feel the need to STOP at the other side of the metal detector to get dressed, and take their good ol' time doing it. You're holding everyone else up. See those chairs over there? Go there to put your shoes and belt back on. Let the rest of us thru the checkpoint. Putz. (Except those of you with children get a pass from me. I can be patient for kids.)

    Fun thread. :)

Software companies that make you buy their updates and said updates don't have some of the features that were very useful in the previous version. (QuickBooks Pro)

Travelers aren't the problem, stupid security rules and power-hungry checkpoint employees are the problem.

Shoes are still a 'maybe' depending on the airport -- some make you take them off, some don't. And it's never listed on any signage that I've seen. It does nothing to improve security, just makes everyone walk around without shoes in a public place (GROSS!)

Once I get through the checkpoint, I'm not walking shoeless any further than I have to (again, GROSS!) so yes I will stand right at the pickup point and put my shoes back on, put my laptop back in my bag, and put everything else back in its place to make sure I have everything before I walk away. I'm not leaving my belongings unattended any longer than necessary and that includes staying put long enough to do an inventory to make sure I'm not leaving anything behind.

as someone once said, thank goodness it was the shoe bomber and not the underwear bomber...it would make for a more interesting checkpoint to say the least ;)

No, travelers are. Regardless of power-hungry employees and stupid rules, the rules are in-place, and so are the employees, and nobody these days can claim ignorance....

Definitely agree on that. But I have been to several airports with signs that say "please remove shoes" (Boston does, or did last time I was there).
While not as sanitary as shoes, socks go a long way to keeping feet clean as opposed to barefoot. Some airports provide clean "foot covers" used in hospitals.

My argument is you HAVE TO move so as not to hold up the line. I guess we have to disagree on this one....

Though I will be among the first to jump for joy if all these stupid rules would go away.

Well I do try to stay out of other people's way as much as I can.. I'll slide my stuff down to the end to make room for others to get their stuff, and I try to allow plenty of room for faster people to go around me. The thing for me is that I don't like to feel rushed, and whether I go through security fast or slow, I am probably still going to end up waiting for the airplane to start boarding anyway.

I do agree that many people seem completely oblivious to their surroundings and how they are impeding others around them, and that goes for just about everywhere, including airport security.

I'm in the middle on this. If you can get your stuff together in a quick and efficient manner, go for it. If you're slower than molasses in January just grab your stuff and step aside to organize yourself. Business travelers usually have this down pat; it's the people who fly only occasionally that slow the system down. Actually, that's not quite true - my in-laws fliy a couple of times a year and every time is like the first time! They're completely clueless. Weird.

When you're going through security with your three kids, naturally you're going to be slower because you're having to grab 3x as much stuff since your kids may not be able to. Not to mention having to get the stroller open and the kids in it. The stroller part, however, can be done in an out-of-the-way place.

This reminds me of why I hate to travel near the holidays!

Indeed -- hardware is nice and all, but most times there is at least a 200% premium on the hardware.

And there's a burgeoning hackintosh community... for example the little Dell Mini 9 netbook runs OS X perfectly. I haven't researched into full-featured MS laptops that are fully compatible with OS X, but I'm sure they're out there.

If the Greenway is going to close 2/3 of the lanes they should charge 2/3 of the toll.

that road is resurfaced more then any road I know... I'm convinced its one of the tools they use to fluff the books to say they are losing money and to justify higher tolls.

How about when you are relaxing and having a peaceful Steamroom experience and some girls come in to catch up on their gossip? Talk talk talk! Steamrooms should be a quiet zone, especially if someone is already in there relaxing.

How about when you are waiting in a short line for the Costco foodsampler person to replenish the food sample tray and just as you are about to give a yummy to your kid, a SNOWBIRD OLD GEEZER comes up and grabs it first? No wait, no problem he is thinking? And the sneer...

If I am driving the speed limit, especially in a work zone, don't tailgate me or zig zag behind me. Your reckless driving is not going to make me speed up.

My grandmother was said to have pulled her keys out of the ignition and dangled them out her window at the driver behind her when this happened to her.
