Oh I have no doubt that the CAN be turned on, but all that I've been told is that VDOT will not change any traffic flow on a midweek day or a weekend. They always want to start on a Monday so that people going to work can get used to the changes gradually.

Evidently, just turning them on will cause more accidents.

What should happen is they will go through a 15 or 30 day "flash yellow" period. It's kind of a way to let people know the change is going to happen. This according to a person who works for VDOT.

Or maybe based on the speed of how fast they got them up to begin with, by fall 2010 :)

Let's just skip the light altogether and put in a cloverleaf. That could be done by the time they get the lights on. :woot:

Ok, so what I believe is that when the light's finally go on...all of the people who've gotten used to the 4 way stop, without rollong through it, turning in a non turn lane, or moving through when not their turn, will be the ones who need to have them flashing! The rest of us will already know to stop. DUH!

Okay... I know that somewhere in the 49 pages of this thread someone has indicated when the lights are going to start working... but can someone please state it again... as during my quick glance I didn't see a date?

    THANKS!

That's why there are 49 pages. No one knows. It's one of life's great mysteries.
Sure they keep saying things like "before the start of school" or "by the end of the year" but it never happens.

I think the latest was that VDOT is supplying power this week and that the lights should be in blinking status by Friday (3/17). However, I haven't seen any evidence that it's going to happen in that timeframe.

The light at Waxpool/Claiborne does have a meter for it. Now if they could just flip that switch.

Well, there's a meter at Waxpool & Claiborne, but not at Broadlands & Claiborne.

Guess that work order was scheduled for another day.

I didn't see a meter at Waxpool/Claiborne. I saw the empty box where a meter goes but that has been there for months.

Now the meter is gone. I think they're doing this to get us off. Those really aren't stop lights, they're squirrel houses.

Has this situation become the joke of the neighborhood. Utterly ridiculous to have these things not working by now. We've witnessed twice vehicles not stopping nor slowing down and just blow through the intersection. Too bad we can't levy some sort of daily fine for each day they are not activated.
