Nope ... it was the day that VaPower said they'd have all the meters in.

Now when they start blinking will probably be Monday.

    Hello,

Does anyone have any new information regarding the traffic lights? Should we expect them to be turned on soon?

When I rode past my old house today in the village, I noticed they still haven't turned on the stoplights there by the new harris teeter...so it sounds like ashburn as a whole is plauged with no turny on the lighties

See ... the problem is that Terrabrook sold out to Van Metre, and they threw out the original paperwork. So it had to be started all over again. So actually, we're on week 59 :bawling: !!

If the consequences weren't so dire, this situation could be the funniet joke in Ashburn!

I was following a Prius yesterday with a bumper sticker that said "I need more cowbell" -- I was laughing and my son asked why. :D

:boogie: There were Dominion Power guys with the box (Claiborne and BB) open and they were messing with the innards at 3:00 today. I won't go so far as to say they were hooking up the power....

    Just received in my email.......

DULLES DISTRICT SUPERVISOR STEPHEN J. SNOW ANNOUNCES
ACTIVATION OF NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL IN BROADLANDS.

Dulles District Supervisor Stephen J. Snow is pleased to announce that the Office of Transportation Services will be activating a new traffic signal at the intersection of Claiborne Parkway and Waxpool Road on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 9:30 am. This signal was funded in part by the developers of Broadlands and Broadlands South with a total estimated cost of $182,000. Pedestrian signals have also been provided for individuals using the trails at all four corners of the intersection. The signal timing provides protected left turns at the beginning of each movement with the pedestrian signals activated by call buttons during the through movement.

One down, one to go. Hopefully, Claiborne and Broadlands is not far behind.

About three weeks ago, I saw a car parked on Claiborne just south of Broadlands in the yellow-striped area. It was marked "Traffic Survey" on the side of the car. I'm hoping that means they were out looking at the traffic flow so that the timing of the lights can be set. One would think that the traffic survey wouldn't be performed too far in advance of turning on the lights, but nothing about this has gone smoothly, has it?

1). I'll believe it when I see it.

    2) Typical politician. Snow makes himself out as some kind of hero. He failed to mention what a fiasco this whole thing has been nor has apologized for putting citizens lives at jeopardy for the past few years while everyone involved did nothing but drag feet and point fingers.

    3) No mention of Claiborne and Broadlands blvd. I am sure if that light ever gets turned on he will put out yet another self promoting press release.

    What a crock!

I hope he's there for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. And who's in the "Office of Transportation Services"? Must be a sign on the door to the janitor's closet with their name on it.

This thread has been going since September 7, 2004, and we now have heard from Steve Snow on this issue.

I am glad he's been tracking it for us.

(p.s. I had to double check the year reference)
