I have a tree in the common area (woods behind the THouses) that is rotted and broken and the only thing keeping it from falling is the branches on the tree next to it. Who do I call?

Call the hoa office. I had some dangerous dead trees behind my property last year and they took care of them pretty quickly.

They're closed and there's no emergency number. I left a message on the Armstrong emergency number but this tree is going to fall within the hour. I'm just waiting to see what part of the house it's gonna take out.

Care of Trees is our contractor. Call them and see what they suggest. Maybe they have an emergency clause to do certain kinds of tree work without the HOA's authorization.

HOA Board member contact info is in the Newsletter. Try reaching out to them, who can then reach out to either or GM or tree contractor.

So what ended up happening? You sound really happy, so I'm assuming it was all 'positive'? :)

Landscape contractor went out and took tree down - there was a little damage during that operation but it is being repaired...

The landscaper was great. Yes, there was some damage but not to anything important and no one was hurt. That is all that matters.

My comment was about the speed at which the HOA and the landscaper responded to my emergency (and my freaking out) despite the fact there was a storm going on. Had anyone delayed, I could have been looking at a tree in my bedroom window during the night.

The tree was actually removed by the tree contractor, The Care of Trees. Check out the article about HOA trees in the latest edition of the HOA newsletter that gets mailed out.

Jeremy with Care of Trees responded on Wednesday evening and cut the tree down himself. Unfortunately part of it fell on the deck in the process, but he had the railing repaired within days.
