    Hi Everyone,

Since we are getting a lot of calls about the NW program, we wanted to
give you all a few updates on what has been going on in the community
and what is being looked into. As you all may have heard, we had more
vandalism that occurred to our pools over the past weekend. Each year
we (as an HOA) spend thousands of dollars repairing, replacing and
renewing items that have been vandalized.

School ends in about a week and as you may expect more of these acts
of vandalism are inevitably going to occur. To try to combat this
growing problem, we (as an HOA) are looking into getting a paid
security firm to patrol our neighborhood. We are also looking at the
possibility of having a sheriff “substation” located with in
Broadlands, meaning that we would have a “community sheriff” working
    out of Broadlands.

We have started with having a patrol company helping us at the pools.
They are a paid patrol that will be stationed at the pools in the
evening and into the early morning, when most of the problems are
occurring. To help augment this service there have been many residents
who are interested in patrolling the pools, tunnels, etc as well, so
I think we have a very good start to stopping the vandalism and
property destruction. Any issues that arise and we are able to get
names of those involved will be handed over to the police as we are
    taking these problems very seriously.

We are having our next neighborhood watch meeting on July 18 at 7:30
in the Nature Center. Deputy Leydig is going to speak about handling
solicitors and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may
have about the problems we are facing in our community. Should the HOA
board sign off on the contract for the security firm, I hope to have a
representative from that company also attend our meeting to discuss
what we can do to augment their services.

We also wanted to give you a website that you can go to to sign up to
receive any alerts the sheriffs department wants you to be aware of.
    That site is: http://www.co.loudoun.va.us/sheriff/index.htm.

As you can imagine the vandalism problem is one that we will not
tolerate and charges will be filed against any of the people that are
caught destroying our neighborhood and community. It was also
suggested that financial rewards be given to anyone providing
information leading to the names of those involved.

Since our Neighborhood Watch program has changed we would like to hear
what your suggestions are and what you would like to see. We would
like to know what topics interest you for speakers at our NW meetings
and any ideas you have that would ensure our neighborhood will be a
    safe and vandalism free place.

We look forward to your involvement in this program and as always tell
    your friends and neighbors.

    Thanks
