We would like to take another quick trip to the beach. We went to Myrtle Beach earlier this year and loved it but we don't think we could handle the length of trip again with two children under the age of 5 who get car sick. Any suggestions on where to go.........Ocean City, Rehoboth, Virginia......maybe Lake Anna.......and where to stay ........thank you.

I also would be interested. Marianne is interested in beaches that are "Dog-friendly". I tell her that I am not that ugly in a swimsuit but she wants to be prepared. :)

Are these types of beaches generally friendly to well behaved dogs? Are there any that support off-leash mutts?

For kids that age, I would suggest Lewes, DE. Geography affords much calmer wave action, so younger ones tend to fear less and enjoy it more. And you can always hit the boardwalk in Rehobeth a few minutes away in the evenings if you are seeking that kind of destination.

I'll have to defer to others on the lodging.

We stayed at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, DE with our (then) 2 and 4 year olds. One day we drove down to Ocean City for about 5 minutes before we high-tailed it back north. That was WAY too crowded and crazy for us. I would definitely stay at Bethany again. We also drove up to Rehobeth and that was fine, but I preferred Bethany because it's more quiet and little kid friendly.

Ozgood, usually dogs are not allowed on the beaches until it's after beach season (October-ish).

We go to Bethany Beach, DE several weekends during the summer (in-laws bought a beach house there). They've been going there since 1980. It is kid friendly and a lot more quiet (like sharse indicated). Rehobeth has a lot more kid activities (rides and games), but to me the other beaches are full of young adults doing what they do best...have a good time.

That is good to know as that would be when I would want to go to the beach. I hate crowded beaches. :angryfire:
