Hi, is anybody else having problems with the Verizon Wi-Fi? Since Fios installation was complete I am experiencing constant outages - router restart would solve it for a bit but in an hour or two the connection would go dead. Router lights looks normal - I am using the box provided by Verizon. Called them twice, they'd reset the router, reassign IP address, increase signal strength, etc. but the problem is still there. Thanks!

Were you installed as part of Phase 4? I ask because it did not seem all that uncommon to have some of these issues a month or two after installation. I had similar complaints but all has been good now for a while.

Sounds like a bad router and I would ask them to swap it out with a new one. My experience so far has been that the verizon router out performs the ones I had previously in speed, stability, and range.

We were Phase 3 but switched to Verizon only recently. I do not think I'd be able to stand it for 1-2 months, most of our devices are on Wi-Fi.

Thanks, I'll keep pressing Verizon. They are trying to put blame on the in-house wiring which we never had any issues with while on OB.

FWIW... you can't use that totally as a baseline.. as the tech being used now is more demanding.

But troubleshooting your kind of problem is difficult in generalities. You need to know what specifically is failing (IP connectivity, DNS lookups, ethernet interface, wifi signal) to narrow down.. and that's very frustrating to do when a problem is intermittent and dealing with it remotely. The solution will require checking key points when in the failure state (or logs) and comparing with other paths to narrow it down.

The number 1 thing to do is narrow the problem to just wifi or not. If your wifi is 'down', does a direct wired computer to the same router still work? If it works wired, but not wifi, you've narrowed things greatly. If it's failing still at the router and direct connected.. then you can look deeper at the status in the router itself and maybe the problem is there and its connection upstream.

So Verizon claimed the problem was my Router. I have a new Deco Mesh router... been working fine with Verizon for several months. All of a sudden it won't work any more? Hard to believe but I installed the Verizon Router and internet work fine now. Went ahead and added my Deco units as Access Points, and it seems to work.

This is why Networking can be so frustrating.
