Does anyone know where I can buy 8x12 frames locally at reasonable prices ($20-30 ballpark...hopefully...realizing it's not a standard size)? The big places (e.g., A.C. Moore) don't carry them. And I'd rather not buy online without seeing them first. [An 8x12 is the same aspect ratio (height:width) as a 4x6.]

My photography is done with a 3:2 framing in mind, and I can't crop some of them to 8x10 without ruining my intended shot.

    Thanks!

Some of my babies that I want to keep "wide":

Hmmm...8x12 has always been a normal size for me. AC Moore, Walmart, Target all have that size. Good luck.

Where did you buy your 8x12 frames?

The last place I checked was AC Moore in Ashburn Village. I went up and down their aisles and finally had their salespeople confirm that they don't carry that size (they don't carry 8x12 mats, either, so I couldn't just get a bigger frame). They suggested going online or buying custom frames which are expensive (and I need a bunch).

I Googled and it looks like other people around the country are experiencing the same problem. Some folks say it's hit-or-miss depending on the store. I've been unlucky and "missing" every time. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me which store (and location) you got yours from so I can go straight there.

    Thanks!

Did you try Joanne Superstore in Leesburg? They have a large framing department.

Costco sells 8x12 frames in packages of two. IMO they are very nice frames and reasonably priced. I believe somewhere around $17 for two.

    Thanks for the responses.

I haven't tried Jo Ann (as I assumed they were just fabrics) but I'll gave it a shot.

I did try Costco in Sterling but they didn't have 8x12 frames (at least when I last checked about 2 weeks ago). Did you get yours at the Leesburg (or other) location? I only saw digital picture frames on their website.

I have had the same problem. My solution was to buy 9x12 glass clip style frames (http://www.amazon.com/MCS-Glass-Picture-Frame-Photograph/dp/B0000AE68J) and mount the photo to a piece of 9x12 black stock using a spray adhesive. This leaves you with a 1/2" black border on the top and bottom of the picture. Not ideal but it was a cheap way to get the full frame view.

In fact, I bought the frame from Sterling Costco 2 weeks ago...its a very nice, cherry finish frame.

Also, you can try 'Bed Bath & Beyon'. With their 20% off coupon, price will be affordable...

I have also seen 8X12 frames in Sterling walmart.

I got my 8x12 frame at Target off of Waxpool. But that was a few months ago.

    Absolutely gorgeous pictures!
I have bought 8x12 from the Kohl's in Sterling (off of Rt.7). You can also try the Burlington off of Rt.7 in Sterling as well... photography is a passion of many family members, and they're always in pursuit of 8x12 frames or other hard to find sizes. Good luck!
