Just a quick note to let others know about some rare customer service received today!

We had to have the front windshield of our car replaced. We called Safelite and they set up an appointment for us promptly. The gentleman who came out today, Aric, was extremely efficient, helpful and conscientious. He fixed the windshield quickly and took extra time to make sure all the debris was cleaned off the driveway, cleaned off the car, etc. Just rare to get that kind of service these days so I thought I'd pass along their website: www.safelite.com

It was $340.25 total with tax for an SUV. Definitely check around to see if you can get it done cheaper--my wife set this up and she's not as cheap as I am ;)

We had a windshield chip repaired by Safelite on Tuesday. Ditto the experience!

    vacliff,
Can you tell me how much it cost you to have a windshield chip repaired? Our car has a small chip (less than 1 inch) and I am not sure if I should even call up the insurance company first to check for coverage or just do it independently without even filing a claim

Not at Safelite but I got chip repaired at Banner Glass for around $50. They said if it's smaller than size of a quarter they can do a repair and you don't need new windshield (even though mine looked pretty shattered but they repaired it).

Does Safelite install OEM glass, or cheap knockoffs? I've never seen an aftermarket windshield that was free of optical distortions.

Good to know. My windshield is getting kind of sparkly in its old age.
