Quick minutes of last nights meeting for Broadband.

The Web Committee finished writing and approved the report to the HOA board for the contract with CWC. We met with the HOA general manager, ran it by him and got his approval. Right now the contract is with the HOA attourney to look it over, then will be passed on to the HOA board for their formal vote and approval when they meet next in mid-August. CWC is still working out some networking issues, I'll be meeting with them again later this week for an update. As of last week, they are still expecting to begin beta testing in a few weeks if not sooner.

On a different note, we talked about the Linksys WET11 wireless bridge being used on the CPE side. A person on DSLR looked the FCC database and found that the WET11 is rated at 138mW - plenty of power. Especially considering that CWC wants everyone to be on 100mW cards. (Most cards are 30-40mW) Anyhow you can read more about the Linksys WET11 here:

It runs about $115 and is supposed to be available in the next couple days (buy.com will have it as well as a few other places).

That's about it. We might have an unscheduled meeting again later this month (depending on how CWC goes). If not our next meeting is Aug 8th.

Eric and I have looked over this site (and the contract part) and will be talking to Jeff about it. Some of the information is different than we have talked and decided about (and written in our contract from CWC).

So for now, take the information on his site as a guideline - but not as exact information to what our service will be.

I just got out of a phone conference with CWC. The website actually was not ready to go live yet (thus the broken graphics and a few non-working links and some information contradicting each other). Their webmaster had brought it up for testing purposes and was supposed to take it back down. Well it got flooded with emails within 14 hours. :)

More updates to come, stay tuned!
