I have a few questions about the beautiful wreaths so many people have hanging on their windows for Christmas. Where do you buy them? How do you hang them? I assume folks are not climbing on ladders, but using the drop down windows to get them to the outside. How are they attached to the window is what I am wondering?

    TIA.

We purchased ours from Michaels (a few years ago during an after holiday sale) and I just bought the outdoor ribbons from Target.

I attach the ribbons with AV plastic tie wraps and extra staples on the ribbons.

As for hanging the wreaths (we have 4 in the back windows, 3 in the upper front and 3 on our pillars) I use fishing line.

I simply tilt the window in, pull the screen out, place the wreath on the outside of the screen and then I close the window. I then double knot the wreaths on the inside of the window. I tried the gutter hanging things and it was a mess - Fishing line works the best (IMHO).

    A couple of suggestions:
    1) this is a 2 person job
    2) get fishing line rated for at least 15 pounds
    3) have at least 2 point of contacts on the wreaths - this shifts the stress points.

If you want to send me a PM you can drop by and see how we installed them.

We do it similar to Pea but we use thick twine. Tilt the window, loosen the screen, put the wreath outside holding the twine toward your body. Close the screen, close the window.
The end of the twine is inside and just that alone holds our wreaths. No knots required and we've only ever had one or two blow down. Thick twine is the key.

We use suction cups with hooks on them. Got them at Michaels.

I use over the door wrath hangers. The hook over the top window and the wrath fits nicely into the hook.

We bought plain green wreaths, attached a red bow with wire, and cut a long length of matching red ribbon, tied it around the wreath on one end, and lowered the top window (screens removed), and dropped the wreath on the outside, close and lock window. Store the wreaths on a pole, hanging so they don't get smushed. One time job, good for years.
