Did anyone else try to recycle their grass clippings today? We had ours in a "trash can-style" recycling container, put it next to the other recyclables this morning, and guess what - tonight we still have grass clippings. Didn't they specify no plastic bags? What's worse is that I had placed the newspapers on top of the grass clippings in the container and they took those. Any suggestions?

The yard debris and co-mingled trucks come at separate times. If the yard debris truck came first, they might have only seen newspapers and not realized you had yard debris.

I'll check with AAA to see if they have any stickers or recommendations for residents to mark the trash containers.

AAA Trash and Recycling doesn't have a yard debris sticker. AAA recommended residents write it on the trash can themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions on the writing material (marker, paint, sticky letters)?

Does anyone have any ideas on the best trash can options? Instead of buying the paper bags, we use the collapsible yard waste bags. They aren't the best for the trash crew when the grass gets wet and heavy but they store much better than trash cans.

Does anyone know where to get a decent recycling can? The one I was using "disappeared' after they emptied it.

The same thing happened to me yesterday!! I didn't see it happen, but I think they just tossed the whole can into the truck!!! It was NOT labeled as 'yard waste', but there was no top on the can and you could easily see what was in it. I am still shocked.....I guess they really want people to use those brown paper bags!! I miss the good old days of the huge black hefty bags!

Well, another Wed has come and gone and the same grass clippings I tried to put out last week are still here. I think you're right - they really do want us to go spend our money buying brown bags for the "honor" of recycling. I bought some big white letters that I'm going to put on the can saying "yard waste" and see if that helps. If anyone else has any other suggestions I'm all ears.
