    Does anyone that attended the developer update meeting have any information on the progress of the talks for the YMCA. Are we still getting the YMCA, and is there a timeframe on opening...Thanks for any info..

    If I remember right, don't expect any groundbreaking until 2006. They need to raise funds in order to do anything past the design concepts.

    I believe the county is fully behind the YMCA going in, and they will be providing the land to the YMCA for 50 years. The discussions right now are to determine whether or not the 'Y' will have to turn over the building to the county at the end of the 50 years, or will the county just let them stay, or something to that effect.

    I'm hoping someone with a better memory than mine will chime in.

    There is a block of land that has been deeded to the county as part of the proffers for Broadlands located at the near the corner of Belmont Ridge, just off Truro Parish.

    A YMCA is needed in our area. It's a great idea and I don't see where it would cause a lot of traffic in the area proposed. Hopefully they'll also have a teen center.

    Actually,

    Building = millions
    Roads = already exist (I really don't think a YMCA will drastically alter the traffic patterns)
    Trees = can buy some at Bluemont for a fair price!
    A place to improve body an soul = PRICELESS
