I heard a rumor that Michael Vick could be out in a halfway house as early as next month, and that Dan Snyder may be interested in signing him. Now, this is only a rumor that was discussed on the junkies this morning, but if it were true, how would the Redskins fans here feel about this man being on their hometown team?

The same way I felt about Snyder signing Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith, Mark Brunell, Adam Archuletta, and Jason Taylor. Terrible business decisions that will not improve the team. As long as Snyder and Vinnie Cerato run the Redskins, they will always be in that 6-10 to 10-6 range. Never completely terrible and never good enough to win anything important.

When I first heard about what Vick did I was disgusted and he needed to pay for his actions. Now that he has paid the price (prison time and $$$), I fully support giving him a 2nd chance to make it as a Professional football player, no matter where he plays. Justice was served. Something tells me he will stay out of trouble for now on. I think it's time that his "Time Out" is over as I would say to my children. Let him play and prove he has learned from his mistakes.

Not 100% sure if Redskins would go after him but I'm almost certain some team will give him a second chance. ( Snyder never fails to amaze me. So sick of him that next year might be the year I will not renew my season tickets ! )

Snyder is the reason the Redskins are where they are.

agreed- he needs to be able to earn a living, and if he can be an asset to a team as a PLAYER, he should play.
for PR AND if he truly believes what he was doing was cruel and wrong, he'd be wise to show repentance by not just donating to but WORKING for organizations that care for animals, he should do public service announcements denouncing dog fights as cruel and :blahblah:

Not that I agree with evey personnel move the Skins have made, but I applaud Snyder for trying to put a winner on the field EVERY YEAR.

To me he doesn't deserve a second chance to earn millions of dollars. I want him to work a regular Joe job and for the rest of his life know that he threw away millions because of his cruelty and greed. There is no "time out" for what he did. If he really gets out next months, this slap on the wrist he got is a joke. If Snyder signs him, I hope he eats his 40 dollar shuttle rides going forward. I am convinced that there will be a lot of people who will not accept this and who will go purple.

After serving his time, forfeiting most, if not all of his wealth already, he should be allowed back into society and resume his "day job". Just because he's a high profile football player doesn't mean he shouldn't be banned for life because of the crime...that's really up to the league if they want to take the chance on employing someone with this on his record.

Anyway, he'll never go back to making the millions he was making before. He's older now and won't be as effective after being out of football for so long. He has a chance to change his image now. As someone else pointed out he really should put a lot of his time into volunteering for animal rights and do something good with his "second chance".

First, I am disgusted at how short Vick’s sentence was.

I yearn for the day when animal cruelty crime sentencing are moved past the level of slapping wrists and start actually punishing these terrible people. Remember he was personally involved in the torturous killing of some of his dogs. It makes me so angry when jerks like this get off so easily.

As for his working for the NFL, it will be some time. Vick received sentencing from both Federal and State courts. His Federal sentencing is for 23 months (a travesty of justice in my opinion) in Federal Prison and this will be ending (with good behaviour and a favourable report) next year with the proviso that he attends a half-way house under 3 years of probation.

However we can’t forget his State sentencing.

In November 2008, he was sentenced to 3 years in State Prison. I have not read anything about his state sentence being commuted. So unless some slick deal can be made (and I doubt anyone would) he still has 3 years of Virginia time to pay back. Foxnews reported that this would be changed to 3 years probation but I think they are confusing that with the 3 years of Federal probation.

The only saving grace is that Vick will remain financially ruined for the rest of his life. He has so many creditors after him. He applied for Bankruptcy but I don’t think any judge is going to allow him to skip out on the millions of dollars he owes people. Not to mention all the current and future lawsuits.

Then, of course, the NFL has to take him off of suspension. His suspension is indefinite and not linked to any release date.

I think more of the blame should fall on Vinnie Cerrato. Every year that Vinnie has been on the Redskins payroll has been an AWFUL year for us, riddled with bad personnel decisions, etc.

When/if Vinnie gets the boot, maybe we stand a chance to make the playoffs again. Until then, the same cycle we are seeing today will continue. Vinnie has had us in a 'rebuilding' mode for almost a decade now. Time for him to go and rebuild his career elsewhere...

Part of the problem is me. Season ticket holders who keep on paying for this circus.

I personally know many people who simply turned in their season tickets after holding on to them for in some cases decades. ( 2009 season might be it for me too ) If enough people simply do not renew their ticket, will we ever get to bottom of this infamous "waiting list "

BTW as a simple curiosity, I put my self on the waiting list ( different name / work address) and what do you know I got a letter from Redskins that my turn has come up. I can purchase a season ticket !! ( I believe I put myself on the waiting list 2 years ago )

So perhaps, waiting list is not as deep and a long as they "advertise" We have over 50,000 fans on the waiting list.

I wouldn't give this rumor too much attention. If it were true, ESPN and the other major sports news agencies would be all over it. I listened to EPSN on Sirius for several hours yesterday and didn't hear a thing on it.

Plus if you look at his stats, Vick wasn't even that amazing of a QB. Campbell has a better QB rating this year than Vick has ever had in his career at Atlanta.
