Led by Peter Cottontail, the parade will begin promptly at 10:00am on the path next to the Community Center. Follow Peter as he makes his way through the tunnel to Hillside Park where there will be eggs to hunt. Stick around afterwards to enjoy balloon twisters, a hay ride & moon bounces. Please limit eggs to 10 per child so everyone gets some. Bunny photo opps will be available after all of the eggs have been collected… don’t forget to bring your camera! You don’t want to miss this fun event! Please walk or park at the Community Center and KinderCare parking lots. In the event of inclement weather, visit our furry friend at the Community Center to take photos and collect eggs. This free event is for Broadlands residents only
One of the largest social movements in our region of the world is the Buy Fresh Buy Local revolution. Supporting neighboring farmers is something many of us want to do, and just aren’t sure how.
• Come and meet the people who grow the food, ask them about their practices, set up a time to visit them on their farms, and find the right farm for your family’s needs
• Bring the kids to meet the many farm animals. We will have cheeps (tiny chicks), goats, lambs, and maybe even a calf!
•The Nature Center will be a drop-off site for all of these farms.
If you choose to become a weekly shareholder in a CSA it will be
delivered to your door. . . to the Nature Center.
•$4 suggested donation all going to the
farmers who are coming out at a busy time in their planting
season to meet our community and share their wisdom.
The 2017 Annual Meeting of the members of Broadlands Association will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Please mark your calendars for this important meeting and plan to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to elect members to the Board of Directors, including three (3) members to serve three year terms expiring May 2020 and one (1) member to serve a one year term expiring May 2018. The Board oversees the business of Broadlands in the collection and expenditure of association funds, selection of contractors, management of facilities, and adoption of policies for the day-to-day operations. These volunteer Board Members are a vital asset to the association. To become a Director, you must be a Unit Owner in good standing. The Board currently meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm in the Broadlands Clubhouse.
If you are interested in serving, please complete a 2017 Nominating Form and Petition for Candidacy (fillable form) and return both documents to the Broadlands Association, Inc. office by 5:00pm on Friday, March 24th, 2017. Only these approved Elections Committee nomination forms may be used. The Broadlands Association, Inc. Bylaws require that at least three other owners sign the Candidate Petition, which must be received by the Association no less than twenty five (25) days before the Annual Meeting to be eligible to be included on the Ballot. All members will be mailed a proxy form containing the names of all eligible candidates with the official notice of the Annual Meeting.
As in prior years, the Board has contracted with The Inspectors of Election, LLC to act as an independent third party election service. This provides the Association’s members the option to vote via paper Proxy Ballots or vote your Proxy online via their TIEiVOTE™ voting website. The online system offers you an easy way to vote in a secure, quick and cost-effective manner.
The Inspectors of Election will mail the official annual meeting notice and election package on or about April 1st, 2017, which will contain unique login information for each unit to access the TIEiVOTE™ voting website. Proxies should either be submitted online via the voting website or will need to be mailed, faxed, or scanned to the Inspectors of Election, LLC. Proxy forms will not be accepted at the HOA Office.
For those of you that submit for candidacy in the election, we thank you for your willingness to assist in the success of your community. Remember to mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 for the Annual Meeting of Broadlands Association, Inc.
The HOA office and Nature Center is closed today, Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
In preparation for the upcoming winter weather event, Broadlands Association and our snow plow contractor, Signature Snow and Ice Control, have made as many advanced preparations as possible in order to keep the association owned roads cleared for emergency response vehicles. Please take a moment to determine whether you live on a VDOT street or a private (HOA owned) street. See Snow Removal and Maintenance 2016-2017 if you are unsure. Those residents living on private streets pay an additional assessments to the HOA to fund private road maintenance, including snow and ice services. Residents on VDOT streets do not pay the HOA for their road maintenance; these roads are paid for by your personal property taxes. The VDOT website has some good information regarding snow removal at http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/snow.asp.
The chief objective of snow plowing is to clear one drive lane in order for emergency responders to get to you in the event of a fire or other life threatening emergency. We ask that you stay home and off the roads for your safety and the safety of others. If you get on the road under less than optimal driving conditions, you may endanger the lives of snow plow operators, emergency responders who would help you if you got hurt, and doctors/nurses/etc. trying to get to their essential, life-saving jobs. Vehicles driving on snow compact it down, making it more difficult for the plow blade to clear the surface to the pavement. Please heed the warnings of the government and media and stay off the road unless you absolutely must be out in it.
Once again this season, the HOA has provided our contractors with a dedicated phone to handle snow emergency comments from our residents living on HOA owned streets. If you have an immediate concern regarding an HOA owned street or sidewalk, you may contact dispatch at 202-617-6484. This phone will be monitored throughout the storm, but please leave a message if you do not reach dispatch immediately. They may be handling other calls or plowing at the moment. If you reside on a VDOT street, you may contact VDOT at 800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623) or You may also visit http://vdotplows.org to track VDOT truck locations in real time.
Please take a few moments to refer to the Snow Removal FAQs for Broadlands Association.
Due to the threat of significant snowfall overnight Monday into Tuesday and the safety of staff and volunteers in getting safely to and from the board meeting, the meeting has been postponed until Tuesday, March 21st at 6pm.

Concrete Jack will be performing repair work on HOA owned sidewalks to raise and support or grind down concrete as appropriate, to reduce trip hazards. They are scheduled to be on site from Monday, February 20th-Thursday, February 23rd. We do not anticipate any significant interruptions in sidewalk access. Detailed information on the process can be found on their website at http://concretejack.com/sidewalk-repair/. These repairs are both environmentally friendly (uses existing concrete rather than removing, discarding of, and repouring old concrete) and cost efficient.
Trees are an integral part of the overall image and character of Broadlands and must be protected. You are required to obtain approval from the HOA before you can remove trees from your property. Prior to applying, please check your survey plat to verify that the tree is on your property. Tree stumps must be removed below ground level and the area reestablished.
