Christmas Is Just Around the Corner!

Please join us for the Broadlands Annual Visit with Santa on Friday, December 6th from 6:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at the new Broadlands Clubhouse, 43360 Rickenbacker Square. The new clubhouse is located on the right hand side of Waxpool Road driving east just after you cross the Greenway.

Santa’s a very busy man this season making toys for all good girls and boys, so don’t miss your chance for a visit! Please be sure to bring your camera for photos of your family. Light refreshments will be provided, and entertainment by the Eagle Ridge Middle School Chorus, Eagle Ridge Jazz Band and the Briar Woods High School Chorus will make this a most enjoyable evening.

We will have a TOYS FOR TOTS box to collect new unwrapped toy donations. Last year, it was wonderful to see this box overfl owing with your kindness and generosity! Please help us do it again this year.

School Board Opens Superintendent Survey

The Loudoun County School Board is beginning the process of searching for a new superintendent. The firm of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates has been hired to help with the process.
As one of the initial steps in the process, the School Board is seeking your input on the desired characteristics and skills that you would like to see in the next superintendent. Please share your thoughts by responding to the survey linked below.
As you respond, please remember that all characteristics listed are desirable, but we are interested in knowing your perceptions about which characteristics are “most important” for Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS).

Loudoun County Health Check Survey

Loudoun County has launched a public health needs assessment to better identify those issues that are important to the community, how quality of life is perceived in the community, and what assets the county has that can be used to improve the community’s health.  To that end, they have developed a brief, anonymous survey for county residents.  Information can be found on their website at http://www.loudoun.gov/index.aspx?NID=2335.  A direct link to the survey is https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/loudounhealthcheck.

Adult Halloween Costume Party 2013

halloween-partyBroadlands will host its annual Adult Halloween Costume Party on Saturday, October 26th at the Community Center from 8:00 pm to Midnight.

All drinks will be provided, to include the infamous Caldron of Truth. Music by DJ and dancing by you.

Please bring an appetizer to share with your neighbors. Better yet, bring a neighbor to share with your appetizers.

Prizes will be given out for:

  • Best Dressed Couple or Group
  • Most Original Costume
  • Most Provocative

Halloween House Decorating Contest

PumpkinGet into the Halloween spirit and decorate your home to be the scariest, funkiest or funniest in Broadlands! You must complete the Entry Form to participate. Entries must be received at the HOA Office by 5:00 pm on October 18 to be considered. Judging will take place starting at dusk the evenings of October 21 and 22.

Prizes will be awarded for Spookiest, Most Creative and Best Pumpkin Carvings. All winning entries will be listed in the Newsletter and on the website.

Autumn Community Yard Sale

The Autumn Community Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 around the Broadlands neighborhood from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Please think about going “green” and bring along a reusable shopping bag. Check out the list of participants to see what’s for sale and view the community map to find each street.

Residents do not have to be on the list of participants to be part of the community yard sale. If you are a Broadlands resident, and would like to be included in the list of participants, please visit the Yard Sale Submission Form on the website.

It is the resident’s responsibility to check the list of participants for inclusion and accuracy.
